Chances of transverse baby turning at 38+2 weeks?

asongforthelovers · 24/09/2017 20:59

Has anyone’s baby moved from transverse into correct position at 38+2 weeks? Found out today after visit to MU that baby is lying transverse.

I am being kept in due to other issues and ultrasound tomorrow. I have anaesthetist coming round to see me soon. Midwives and doctor has mentioned caesarean?

I’m pretty nervous at the thought of caesarean, is there a chance baby will move on their own? Is it more painful than a vaginal birth?

My second was transverse at 38+6, breech at 39 then head down and fully engaged at 39+1 on day of second. She was also 9lbs 8oz so not a tiny baby.
It can happen.

I'm expecting my third and he is transverse at 34 weeks has been since 26 weeks so it's wait and see.

Sorry meant to add Good Luck and I hope everything goes well.

Have you explained your fears around the action to staff who should be able to reassure you (hopefully)

I've had antenatal care at three different FTs and all of them have made it clear they don't generally even consider an ECV with a transverse baby. I've made peace with the fact there is a chance I will need a c section with number three.

I'm trying to think of it as what will be will be now and trust that a c section is generally recommended for good reason.

My fifth was transverse right near term but turned, I was relieved as there was talk of having to turn him but I was told it's painful.

asongforthelovers · 26/09/2017 09:12

Ultrasound should he’s head down again. He’s estimated at 8lbs so far, I have to stay in for another 48hours to make sure he stays put.

Absolutely shattered, absolutely scunnered and just want him out now!!

strange how different trusts differ, because I was offered an ECV for my DS. we didn't have it in the end but they would have been happy to do it. I'm in Wales though, so maybe different rules apply?

asongforthelovers · 26/09/2017 13:28

They offered ECV to me as well, I said I wouldn’t want it.

I am booked in for induction next Tuesday, then to remain in to get VQ scan.

The end is near 😁

Glad to hear the position is good now. Spinning babies website has some good positions and using a rebozo can help. Hopefully you won't need it now. My 4th was transverse for a while and turned naturally, just in Time, so I share your concerns.
Good luck and remember the medical staff are there to listen to you and support your choices 💙

Gosh I could nearly have written your post 2 weeks ago OP! Mine was transverse (unstable lie) at 37+6 so only a few days behind you- was told I needed to be admitted and they were planning for a c sec only for the little tinker to turn head down (after I refused to let them do an ECV). Had to have another scan 48 hours later and touch wood at 38+4 I think they're still head down! They like to keep us on our toes don't they(!) So glad yours had decided to turn down, hope they stay there and the end is near for you! 😊

asongforthelovers · 27/09/2017 19:35

Haha @mummabubs little monkeys. He’s still head down and I’m home, back in on Tuesday, will be scanned again and induced. 😁

We're they going to induce you at 39 w? Will it be a section now then? Hope all goes well for both of you x

mummabubs · 02/10/2017 16:29

Oh no! 🙈 What a little tinker. Touch wood mine is still head down... I think?!

Good luck with whatever the outcome of tomorrow is OP x

asongforthelovers · 02/10/2017 16:30

Induction is tomorrow, the plan was to go in morning get scan to make sure baby remained head down and get pessary.

I’m hoping baby goes head down again by tomorrow.

I’m not too sure what would happen if he’s back transverse, I’ve came off my fragmin injections for tomorrow so bloods ok if need caesarean, epidural. Not sure if they will schedule caesarean for that week or wait for head down.

I’m supposed to be booked in for X-ray after baby to check blood clot so not sure they will hang about.

Today has been a panic. I’m hoping he’s still ok to go for induction, can definitely feel his bum out left side of stomach like last time. Hope I’m maybe panicking for nothing.

Fingers crossed @mummabubs, this little person has been a bit of a roaster throughout this pregnancy.

I just want it over with now, husbands going to doctors and we shall never do this again 🙈

lollipop7 · 02/10/2017 19:52

Oh Lord what a little monkey!

I'm now footling breech as opposed to transverse 🙄

Best of luck I really hope he turns for you but if not that you have a really good c section experience.

asongforthelovers · 02/10/2017 20:04

Aw jings @lollipop7, will you have to be sectioned for that I take it? Little monkeys 🐒

mummabubs · 02/10/2017 20:30

Spoke too soon @asongforthelovers .... I'm currently sat in my local hospital OAU waiting to be scanned as baby moved a lot and suddenly I can't feel their head down there anymore! 🙈

asongforthelovers · 02/10/2017 20:39

Ahhhhh @mummabubs wee have som roasters on our hands. Good luck, keep us posted 🙏🏻

mummabubs · 02/10/2017 20:54

Will do. They said when I arrived that they'd aim to have me through triage in 10-15 minutes... that was an hour ago. 🙈 I wouldn't mind the waiting if I was told to expect that but I asked and they said 10 minutes! They lied! 😂

cece · 02/10/2017 20:56

Mine did at 41 weeks - the day I went in for an EVC. I was induced that day though as he was an 'unstable lie'.
