REALLY LONG POST

So as most of you read from my previous post i had to ring at 9pm 14th of sept to check if they had room for me, the labour ward coordinator rang back at 10 pm and told me still no space and to call between 9 am and 10 am the next morning.
So me and the other half head to bed so fed up as we just want our babies here!
Im uncomfortable and just couldn't get comfy to drop off properly but when i finally did i wake up with tummy cramps around 12.45am i keep going to the toilet as i felt TMI constipated,
Nothings changing so as my partner has to be up at 5.30am i go lay in my daughters bed as shes at her nans ( incase we got a call in middle of night to go in) and she has a double for me to fit in.
The pains are around 3 mins apart and lasting 30-40 seconds but again i can not tell if they are cramps or actual contractions as id been to hosp twice before once at 30 weeks and once at 34 weeks with the same pains and admitted for almost a week both times but it was never actually making me dilate or anything, so i just assumed i was having another of those episodes.
i lay down and instantly have to jump back up to go to the toilet and again nothings happening, no relief so i walk back and forth to the bathroom a few times with each pain and
Finally around 1.10am i lay down and i must have nodded off as i awoke again 30 minutes later in agony, i lay there for 10 or so minutes curled in a ball waiting for the pains to pass each time as i will myself to get up, at 1.45/1.50am i get out of bed
I spend the next 20 or so min rocking back and forth on the edge of the bed and pacing between her bed and the toilet!
Around 2.10/2.15 i go into my partner and tell him i must ring hospital as the pains didnt seem to be letting up and seemed to be staying longer than a minute each time.
I told him id get my mum to take me and id ring him once i got there and found out if i was in active labour he told me to ring and see what they say first and if they want me in he'd take me instead.
Soon as i spoke to triage they told me to head in as we 15/20 min by car from hospital, and she said the pains and everything sounded as if it was time even if i wasn't dilating yet again they wanted to check as they need to make sure they were both still head down etc with enough time to do something if not!
So i start getting dressed- ( i throw on a maxi dress off the floor id wore the day before and my 90p primark sandles )
Crying and rocking through most pains as i tried to walk down the stairs as on the Monday id started with hip pains ( midwife said spd which is strange i got it in the week im awaiting my waters broke -.-)
I started crying as coupled with the contractions it was agony! My boyfriend went to fetch the car from the car park further down the road while i stood there waiting for him on our front step. I locked the door and made my way to the car waiting in the street. The simple 15/20 min journey felt like it took forever!
We pulled up outside the labour ward 2.50am and my boyfriend helped me out of the car and as i went into the waiting area and triage he went to park the car.
He asked what he should bring i told him nothing yet until we know if its active labour as if not4cm they may have sent me back home to wait it out!
They took my details straight away and started doing my observations, ( temp, blood pressure/ co2)
They then took me into another room to be monitored and checked if i was dilating and to have my scan to make sure they was both still head down.
When i got into the other room at 3am i was put on a monitor and told i was 5cm
They told me i would be staying so my boyfriend went to the car for my bag and pillow and the babies bags'.
I was given gas and air when i all of a sudden felt so much pressure like i needed to push so they prepped that room in lightening speed incase i delivered there, -as in they brought in two of the heated oxygen machines ( cant remember there names right now) and a whole load of other machines and gave me a canular in my hand.
My boyfriend walked in like " whats going on"
And the midwife said "she had pressure like she needs to push so we set up just incase"
at 3.15 they checked me again and i was still 5cm despite the pressure. They decided they had time to move me to a proper delivery room.
We got to the new room and i was using the gas and air and still on the monitor, panting and heaving and squeezing my partners hand with every contraction!
Some doctors came in and asked how many cm i was as they was off to theatre and needed to know if it had progressed any further before they went incase they was needed
About an hour passed and i asked i asked if i could go to the bathroom so they undid the monitor and allowed me to i was struggling to get down to the toilet with the hip pains and contractions so i tried to lean on the wall and then sit down to the toilet, my partner rushed over and helped me down and stood diagonal from me in the main room and i could see him from the toilet as i stood back up i accidentally grabbed the pull cord for alerting people which i didn't need it then!
Two mins later i walked out of the toilet and asked for diamorphine or something alike, she left to go and order it and me and my partner discussed if i was sure i wanted it or not and if i thought breaking my waters would help instead of the stronger drugs i then felt a rush of pressure and i was sure i was going to pee myself so i ran to the toilet again and as i peed and tried to stand back up my partner tried to come help me again but i felt something down below and told him to move back which he did and stood diagonal from me again, so i got myself up and had a contraction i couldn't deal with so i tensed up and all of a sudden there was this noise that sounded like a rocket taking off and splash my waters went allover the floor and into the toiletc my partner jumped and exclaimed "what was that"
So i said " my waters"
He replied " why is there so much blood?!"
I shrugged and he pulled the cord to get the midwife back. ( i now know this was around 4.22am)
She came in and told me i had to get back on the monitor right then to check on my boys heartbeats.
As i got back on, that overwhelming urge to push hit me again and i was told i couldn't, she buzzed for help and in came what seemed like 10 or more people, she checked me and i was 8-9cm. She also went and told the doctors not to go to theatre incase, i needed them.
I needed to push so bad, i kept saying it over and over, another midwife said to let me try as his head was pushing on the lip of cervix that was left.
I don't know how long after my waters breaking it was but i started pushing, i pulled my knees up to my chin and started pushing! I could feel him sliding down but so slowly so i asked if i could get up and onto my knees over the back of the bed, they said yes but to watch my canular as i kept catching and pulling it,
a few pushes later and his head was there, one or two after his head was out. They then told me small pushes but my body overrode what my brain was telling it to do and with one really strong contraction at 4.54 baby B but twin 1 was born! He shot that far onto the bed i felt him or the midwife catch my ankle as she jumped to catch him as i don't think she didn't expected him to fly out how he did!
He was taken to the oxygen machine and daddy followed him over to check on him, he let out a lovely loud cry and was then popped into some lil green booties and a lil green hat!
They then asked if i wanted to hold him but i remember saying i didn't want to squeeze him to tight as i push his brother into the world!
Now this is where the room got even busier as they brought in a scan machine and a drip to keep me contacting and Another paediatrician came in.
I had two doctors holding Baby A vertical in my tummy either side, another scanning to make sure he was head down, another fixing the drip up to me ( with alot of tape! ) and the midwife with her hand up my bits to check his waters and how high up he was, and to see if i had dilated anymore, i obviously was able to give birth through the lip of cervix but it was still there!
I told them i still had the urge to push so the midwife asked me if she could break my waters after the other midwife told her to break them, they went with a pop and i got up on my knees to try and let gravity help me guide him down!
After a good couple pushes he still wasn't coming i turned and sat back down but had my legs in the stirrups, i remember pushing and feeling his head slide down, 2/3 pushes later his head was crowning and after that out he came at 5.13am
Daddy cut the cord this time around and he went straight onto my chest as he cried instantly and then after a couple mins i was given both of them! Was lovely to hold them both!
I then was checked and had a tiny graze and the midwife said it was probably from them both been born with their arms up by their faces!
I had to finish the drip to help me get rid of the blood as i had quite heavy bleeding, they kept checking on me to make sure i wasn't bleeding out,
We had to stay on labour ward while the drip finished and until i went to the toilet.
I also had to give Baby A, Twin Two some skin to skin to regulate his temp as he was just below normal!
Meanwhile daddy was dressing Baby B, Twin One!
Baby A regulated his heat pretty fast and was allowed to get dressed too!
And into the cot together they went, while i went to the toilet, had a shower to wash my body and had my bed changed, they brought us a fresh tray of tea and coffee and some toast,
I put on some disposable pants, a pad and a nightie.
Ate my toast and waited for a room to be ready for us,
We went up to an antenatal ward due to there been no side rooms available on postnatal.
Upstairs i had to give baby b Twin one some skin to skin while we awaited their big sister coming to visit! Xx
