i went to see my gp a week ago when baby was 2 weeks old as my lochia, which had been light and pinky brown for over a week, started to get really heavy and dark red again.i was also getting period-type cramps and pain.the doc gave me antibiotics and took a swab, which came back showing i have a strep A infection.

does anybody know anything or have experience of this type of infection?i tried googling it but got worried when i started reading scary stuff about toxic shock syndrome and didnt really want to read anymore.

the bleeding calmed down but i am now getting a yukky brownish discharge and am still getting pains down there, though the gp said they could just be pains from everything going back into place iyswim.

This happened to me after my CS last year, luckily I was too out of it to think of looking it up until after I was feeling much better, which took about a week and a half...

Everything is fine now, and I had pains for a good few weeks after the infection but I was told it was normal moving back into place stuff.

All in all, sounds like exactly what I went through so don't panic too much unless bleeding comes back
