im TERRIFIED for my sister!! - due in 4 weeks!

its her first baby and shes only 18,

shes just a bit young and she has a low pain threshold, i just cannot imagine her giving birth, i cant imagine how she will cope.

i wish i could do it for her,

ive told her its fine and its not that bad, but it is isnt it?

plus shes due in 4 weeks and my mum finds out if she has to have chemo for her skin cancer in 3 weeks, so she could potentially be going through that too,

i feel so sorry for her,

perhaps im underestimating her, alot of people said they didnt think i would habdle labour well first time round but i loved it,

i just wish the bloody stork was real!! lol

can you be her doula?

At the end of the day the baby has to come out and yes it will hurt but she will manage and it will be so worth it!

i would love to be her doula but she has her partner, my mum and her MIL all in line to be with her, i know my mum is a fantastic birth support so she is in safe hands,

im going to try and be outside the room, but with DP working and me having 2 babies its hard

don;t tell her you cannot imagine her giving birth and that you cannot imagine how she will cope ! be positive, tell her yes, it will hurt, encouage her to read about birth and coping mechanisms, she needs to have an idea of what her body is going through, what it will feel like, that it might feel overwhelming, but she can do it....that she can use TENS, water, gas and air, massage and different positions for pain relief, that she can have pethidine too, that there is so much that can help, not least going with it, working with the pain , not fighting it, and listening to her body .

I had my little girl at 18 and I was fine. It is important she has someone really supportive with her - can you be there?

sounds like she has plenty of help.......no reason at all why she will not cope...

look, you had your boys young, you coped, you did really good, she has that as an example...is she having a hospital birth ? what is it like? does she have the same midwife for antenatal and birth care?

I know what you mean but at 18 she's the ideal age to be having babies, so that's a very good start!

i know ahe will be a fantastic mummy, its just the birth bit,

i guess im just protective as shes my lil sis, we always had a bad relationship when i lived there,

but since i moved out (more space) and she got pregnant, we have become soooo close, - plus all this shit with my mam has brought us closer

god im waffling,

UPDATE!!

my sis had some bleeding this AM so we went to StMarys and she was checked out, so was baby,

everythings fine, no dialation or anything but the hospital was FILTHY, she hated being there and we talked to the consultant and she is now having a HOMEBIRTH!!!

im soooo excited! i had one with DS2 and i think it will make her soo much more relaxed!

(ps i think the bleeding was due to a bit of rumpypumpy the previous night! lol - she was sooo embarresed when the consultant asked her!) bless
