A little in shock....I see this retained blood??

I gave birth 6 days ago, all straight forward and placenta birthed complete. I have had no uterus contraction pains and feel pretty damn good. Had 2 stitches which are healing well. Not had masses of blood loss just normal after birth blood and lochia getting lighter and lighter.

I have not been so active as been feeding little almost round the clock.

Decided on a quick shower tonight and was washing my hair when I looked down and bright red blood was pretty much pouring out of my vagina. No clots. After a few minutes this stopped but was a fair amount of blood. I have had no cramps.

I'm feeling ok and it seems to have stopped for now. Could this be blood that had pooled somewhere inside and built up and just came out or could there be another problem?

I would phone the ward that discharged you. Post partum haemorrhage can happen up to 6? weeks after and it's perfectly possible to have retained something despite being advised the placenta was complete. I didn't have cramps with mine either but def had a womb full Envy

Yes, call triage. They might tell you to go and see GP first thing tomorrow (if they're worried, they'll ask you to come in).

This happened to me 4 weeks postpartum. Secondary PPH due to endometritis. GP gave me antibiotics. Had a scan as well to rule out retained products.

You must get some advice.

It could just be some pooled blood having a final fling; and blood mixed with shower water can seem to be more than it really is.

But it is not the sort of thing that should be ignored.
