Booked in for C-Sec at 39 weeks - if I go into spontaneous labour beforehand will they operate?

My birthing history is vontuse (is that how you spell that?!), emcs (10 lb'er), natural, breech so elcs (this was in October 15).

My question is, I am booked in for a c-sec at 39 weeks. If I labour naturally will they still operate? Or will they try and make me go naural?

I am having a section at 39+2 due to previous complications. The consultant and midwife both said if I go into labour before they will fit me in as an emergency. Hope that's reassuring.

No experience personally but a friend had 2 previous cs's, a planned 3rd but went into labour spontaneously and she had an ecs. Good luck

I had the same advice - third degree tear and subsequent incontinence issues from my first giant, not-quite-eleven-pounder baby, meant I was told I'd be risking serious complications if I had any future vaginal births.

I was booked in for an elcs for my second, and terrified that they wouldn't do it if I went into labour. They took great pains to reassure me that it was very unlikely to happen, and if it did, they would treat me as an emergency.

Yes you will still have the c section

I went into labour a few days before my planned elective c section, which I'd fought for due to damage from my previous forceps birth but which my consultant didn't believe was necessary as it would 'probably be ok' the second time. Anyway.....I was terrified they'd try to persuade me not to have a c section as it was the middle of the night etc etc but it was fine, they didn't argue at all, and I had the c section. I had been told that in the event of spontaneous labour before the elective date that I would be prioritised along with any other emergencies - which is right and proper.

I was told the same. Even with my maternal choice ELCS.

Yes me too- I was reassured that an ELCS would still be done if I went into labour before the planned date for my ELCS due to maternal request.

I was really frightened that in the event they would bully me into not doing it, purely because it was due to maternal request- this really worried me in the last few weeks of pregnancy.

Luckily, LO stayed put with no sign of wanting to emerge before the elective date.

This worried me too as I had no medical reason for one but I had it as planned despite waters going 24hrs earlier

I'm aware of cases where they have and cases where they haven't. You may want to ensure you're ready to be very pushy.

I was booked in for an ELCS due to complications when having my first baby. I was told that if I showed any signs of going into labour to go staight to the hospital and say I needed an emergency c section immediately. I didn't realise how difficult things must have been when I had baby number 1 until I saw how anxious and determined all the medical staff were for me to only deliver baby 2 by section.
