My last 2 births were great!
The best bit was when they were over, I was elated that were finished and everything turned out ok!
My friend gave birth to her second child just before I did, we both had very long first labours with loads of interventions etc.
Anyway, she hadn't time for an epidural and totally freaked out. She rang me and advised me to not freak out and make the same mistake she did. She told me that she ruined the birth because she was in such a panic about not having time for the drugs, she wished that she had calmed down and went with it, that she was going to survive and should have just taken a deep breath and calmed the fuck down.
Well I took her advise, it was ringing in my ears as I went into labour the second time. Calm down, go with it,you will survive. It was v painful, but I gave birth in just over 30 minutes, no stitches and felt great after it. (this was nothing to do with staying calm, the baby comes out whatever way it wants, but I didn't wreck it by panicking if you get me)
My last labour was the same, I was induced and that bit went on for ages so I was tired, but the actual full on labour bit was the same, her advice stood to me again then. Whatever happens, and its as unpredictable as the weather, whatever happens, just go with it, it might not be "lovely" but if you try to stay calm, you will make the best of it.
Good luck.
