Anyone had a late 2nd baby late if 1st was on time

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone had their 1st baby on time/early but went over due with the 2nd?

I had my 1st at 39+6 (on paper) but they think she was about week early in the end.

My 2nd is due tomorrow but no signs of an imminent arrival as yet and think I'm going to go over.

If you did go over due with your 2nd did you eventually go into spontaneous labour or did you have to be induced?

DS was 1 day early. I got a run of contractions/false labour with DD around the same stage, but she ended up being 9 days late. My waters broke as I was getting ready to go into hospital to be induced (hospital was worried that she was getting very big, though she ended up almost exactly the same weight as DS, just over 9lbs), but the induction obviously ended up not being necessary.

First DC was born 1 day before due date and second DC was 2 weeks past due date. I was a couple of hours away from being induced.
Interestingly (but maybe coincidental), my first DC is v energetic/never sits still and second DC is much more laid back and loves sleeping. It does not surprise me that she decided to wait so long before making an appearance!

Yes 1st 4 days early .. second 5 days late x

Just a waiting game, as like everyone says baby will come when ready! And as you'll all know it's not really what you want to hear!

My elder brother was on time.
I was 2 week late.
Spontaneous, not induced.

DC1 40+3, DC2 40+12 on they day they would have sent me for induction. Both spontaneous although a sweep may have helped DC2 along.

DC1 40+5 (although went into labour on 40+4)
DC2 40+13 - born the evening before I was due to be induced, had 3 sweeps which did nowt!

My first was five days early, my second was five days late. I went into labour spontaneously. Those few days felt like a very long time indeed.

DS1 36.3
DS2 27
DD 41.3

Went in for induction. Had gel, ha ha, they were intent on putting up syntocynon drip Ivsaid that was fine providing I had an epidural. They said ok, while I waited for the anaesthetist my waters broke. By the time the epidural was in I was 9cm and ready to push. They never switched the drip on. Baby arrived about 2.5 hours after waters broke. 8.13 baby, no stitches. All good x

Dd1 born at 38+4 weighing 9lb2oz
Dd2 born at 40+5 weighing 9lb3.5oz

I'm 27+1 now and would like this one somewhere in between, oh if only we could choose haha!

Forgot to add. Both spontaneous but did have a sweep the day before I had dd2. Second birth much quicker then first
