As title says, DD17 was induced yesterday. Contractions been all the time. At 5am this morning was 2cm. Tough day - exhausted and at 2.30pm still 2cm. Water broken for her then. Epidural going in now. - any good news stories after this - or am I preparing for the next 18 hours no sleep?

It might be worth preparing DD that a C-section might be on the cards. My induction didn't progress and after 3 days I had an emergency section

SecretRed · 30/10/2016 17:11

Hopefully now she's had an epidural she'll be able to have drugs alongside which will speed everything up.
You'll be Grandma before you know it!

Thanks, I'm struggling because she's getting upset so I am too. Wish I could help her. I'm downstairs having cuppa and some food with DD2 whole DH is with her for the needle (not that I'm bothered by the needles - but DD is and wanted her daddy). She getting examination after the epi, so I'm swapping with DH again for that. So we'll see if waters breaking did anything - been almost 3 hours so I hope so

That sounds so stressful for all of you. Your DD must be so stressed. Fingers and toes crossed for her.

ineedamoreadultieradult · 30/10/2016 18:03

I would have a chat with the midwives and ask how long they will let her continue before going for a c-section at least that way you know what she will be facing and can help support her.

ohdearme1958 · 30/10/2016 18:09

Just to acknowledge your post and to say I hope for your DDs sake that things have progressed a bit.

It's awful when it's your daughter going through the mill. 💐

How stressful.Flowers Your DDs baby sounds like they're about to be born into a lovely family, lucky them.Smile

Weneverworked · 30/10/2016 18:19

They will want her to progress 1cm an hour and will probably start a drip to strengthen contractions to achieve that. If the baby tolerates this up to 10cm without getting distressed they will then allow an hour for the head to descend then an hour for pushing. It's a long haul. Unless she surprises everyone and dilates really fast !

DragonNoodleCake · 30/10/2016 20:29

Thanks all for lovely messages...DD after a bit of epidural topping up by the anaesthetist has her pain free and calm! MW just did an examination at 7.30pm and she was fully dilated!! So after a wee rest and opportunity for contractions to push baby further down. She's just about to start! Not long now.
Was scary to see her struggle - so glad she's nearly there!

Hope it's all going well Flowers

He is here!!! All is well. As I said at the update - fully dilated at 7.30pm. Asked her to push at 8.45pm - then his heart rate was dropping a little. Ended up with forceps to help him out a bit quicker as he was tired. But he and she were fine! I was nervous with all these people suddenly in the room.
9.37pm - 7lb 5.5ounces - not named yet, he's a wee cutie. DD feels tired but great. They coming home today.
I managed to catch up on sleep last night!
