the politics of it all is really fascinating

'Safer Childbirth?: A Critical History of Maternity Care' by Marjorie Tew is a fascinating read.

The shift to almost universal hospital birth has been a huge con trick on women, it's amazing how it came about really, when the evidence points to homebirth being safer for most women.
