I haven't had many BH at all this pg (39+1) except for one night at 37 weeks when we thought it was kicking off. Last night at 7.30pm the pains came out of nowhere, no creeping in, just WHAM! They weren't regular though lasting about 40 seconds but varying from 5-7 minutes apart. No relief regardless of position. Had enough by 10.30 and went to bed. They didn't stop until 5am, which is awfully tiring the next day. M/w visited today and confirmed head is 2/5 (?fully engaged) and ready to go.
The contractions with my other two were almost always starting from the top and waving down across my bump, these gripped me under my bump seriously around my back (back pain was the worst actually) and felt like pulling up inside me. Is this likely to be pre-labour, or JUST the BH, is it like sometimes you labour for a couple of days like this before active labour or am I just hoping?
Sorry it's long .

Hope you are OK sorky, and have a good nights sleep hon.
Hey Lulu, meet up would be great!

sorkycake · 05/02/2007 21:31

Still here .
Even the m/w rang me this morning to see what was happening. No contractions last night or today really. Think it might be a week late like my other two, but I'm ok with that.
Lulumama, I do have another question needed to open my bowels yesterday evening and couldn't produce anything then out popped a piece of jeely clear but streaked with brown (like old blood), not v big about the size of 20p piece. Thing is I'm not sure where it came from! Could this be a show or has my bowel now got sick of waiting and decided to leave as well?

JillybeansNW · 05/02/2007 23:59

Sorky!! You are still with us!
I have been too absorbed in snotty baby (and the whole disabled / parent'n'toddler Parking thread) and so missed you .
I can't help on your jellybaby thingy - though isn't there something that a mother produces bowel-wise round about birth that has loads of VitK in it. Lulu - show your face and confirm this
Maybe it is an impending sign
Not that I am interested....

lulumama · 06/02/2007 07:20

i don;t think your bowel is escaping ! we were talking on the pooing in labour thread about women , even if they don;t poo, will push out some clear jelly like substance !! however, i think that you have lost more of your show, as it is blood streaked mucous.... you can lose your show gradually....

i am eating my breakfast and feeling a little icky now....

lulumama · 06/02/2007 07:21

BTW,...eat some dried fruit and keep hydrated, don;t want tummy ache and constipation to deal with too!!

sorkycake · 06/02/2007 10:13

Ok a little update, though obviously I know noone is interested - sniff!
Was awakened at 4.30am with 2 contractions and the desperate need to go for a wee, felt "leaky", thought baby had made me wet myself.
Wiped away a LOT of brown mucous, looked at jarnies pants and thought "hmm that looks a bit wet".
Changed into white knicks and went back to sleep, sort of, started to have period type pains, the odd BH but nothing much. Woke at 8am to feel icky, HUGE amount of brown jelly and a slightly wet feeling again.
Rang m/w, told to pop a pad on and walk about house for a couple of hours, see if it gets boggy, then ring her and update her. She's concerned that since I thought I might've leaked at the weekend that there's a risk of infection now. Not overly impressed by the show, but I was! Never had one before.
If I am leaking she says I have to go the hospital to confirm this, but will they keep me in? What are the known risks? What tests will they do if it is? If it isn't a leak will the woman please just leave me alone? and lastly what is it if it isn't my waters? I'm due today!

JillybeansNW · 06/02/2007 11:18

Hey Sorky
My waters broke with both of my last 2. 7 years ago with DS2 they made me go to hospital (i was only 36.5 weeks) and did a test with a piece of indicator paper stuff just to check that it was actually my waters i think. They probably also test for any signs of infection. I was then kept in, put
in a bed and told to keep my legs crossed (with steroid injection to mature his lungs)
With DD last year, my waters broke at about 6 in the evening when I was 39wk+(gushing type not just leaking). They made me go in for monitoring (checked baby etc) but let me home again even though contractions were kinda starting. There is a max amount of time they will let you go if your waters break and you are at term (think it might be 36 hours?)
Oh - OK, I admit that I am now interested and excited.

JillybeansNW · 06/02/2007 11:20

OK, the shorter answer is if you are leaking I would think they will shove a moniter on you for a bit but should let you home again ... probably...

sorkycake · 06/02/2007 11:33

Not leaking, hurray!
Walking sideways up/downstairs and wriggling on a birthball whilst typing. Have got some BH and tight under bump but nothing shifting yet. It was great seeing the show tho' if a little gross.

OP posts:
lulumama · 06/02/2007 11:54

good !!

saves me writing an answer!

you have 96 hours before induction is recommended , NICE guidelines, due to risk of infection !

you should keep your show, frame it, sounds impressive !!

JillybeansNW · 06/02/2007 11:56

I now have an image of you on the birthball while typing on here
Glad you didn't get shipped off

sorkycake · 06/02/2007 12:00

This ball sitting thing. How do you sit on it? I mean is there an effective position? It seems to be pokey if I roll forwards tilting my pelvis with knees apart, or is there a better position?

OP posts:
MarsLady · 06/02/2007 12:02

The best position is the one that you feel comfortable in.

Good to see that luladoula has been doing her stuff.

SHHHH · 06/02/2007 12:16

sc, im still here as well . Now 6 days over and now really getting p1ssed off.

Well saw yet another registra yesterday for more time wasting.Apparently i am now being told baby does not put on weight after 38 wk but matures . So they don't have any concerns about ds2b being large...yet i measure 40+5..so why am i getting bigger if baby isn't iykwim..??!! baffles me.

They won't induce me early and i am booked for an induction next mon which will make me 41+5. They thought i was pushing for an elec cs and i told them i wasn't but am now thinking it may be`an idea esp as baby could be big and i could struggle or if induced this can result in an emerg cs....imo why put youself at risk iykwim.....yet they wouldn;t allow an ecs until 41+5 so whats the point..? defeats the object..?

So back to the rf tablets, pineapple oh and sex last night. Waste of time imo.
Did`wake with bh's last night but one up with a brew nowt.

I am now sick of people asking if there is any sign and to let them know when anything happens. Oh right....Yeah waters just gone on way to hospital etc etc etc ..Do people really think I have nowt else to do but to call/text when something happens.? Many times I want reply, we had him 2 weeks ago, did we forget to say.? Everyone is excited but I am scared and aprehensive..think thats why I am so touchy..

MarsLady · 06/02/2007 12:25

Don't be scared shhhhhhhhhh. 90% of the battle is believing in yourself. This unable to birth big babies scaremongering truly pees me off.

However, about you................. honey your baby will come when it's time. Relax, unplug the phones (well ok you can leave your mobi on for DP but screen your calls). The pressure from others that we get when we are due doesn't actually help us. We get all tense and worried and concerned for others. That's not how it should be.

So......... do all of the relaxing things that luladoula suggested. Have a bath... take some time off from wondering when the baby is going to come. Trust me

lulumama · 06/02/2007 12:26

shhhh...if DH was not away this week, i would pop down and see you my love...but sadly, i am on my own xxxx

sorkycake · 06/02/2007 12:46

Oh SHHH I feel for you I really do.
I had 5 phonecalls in about 20 minutes yesterday, so I changed the ansa msg and let the phone ring. Course the cat groomer who was getting back to me seemed a little confused when I brusquely announced that "No I hadn;t given yet, but rest assurred that she would be the first to know when I did" Lordy, Dh is gonna have to drop the cats off there now (I haven't told him about the msg), I'll be mortified if she twigs it was me.
Dh keeps telling me it's not a race to give birth, and I understand that of course but it is slightly irritating when the world and his pg wife are popping out kids early and you're like Mr Wobblyman still. However I've managed to convince myself that I'm not actually due for another week as both my last 2 were overdue. This has helped a little. Take care x

SHHHH, are you still around? Don't forget to let us know before you go to hospital. Just kidding

Good luck with getting him out sooner rather than later!

rachaelsara · 08/02/2007 19:58

Dear Shhhh, I've got four ds's. Number three was a moo. Show THREE WEEKS before she showed, my ancient m/w had never seen such naughtiness - but she did say number three labours were always "in and out like a fiddlers elbow". All mine were late, had accupuncture with ds4 and she was only 5 days late yippee. Good luck, hope you read this with baby in your arms. Lovin all this self examination stuff, trained my dh to assess mine, I couldn't reach! But too shy to tell anyone! BD needs to be vigorous and rude to work!

JillybeansNW · 08/02/2007 21:10

SHhh, Cadbury, Sorky- anything happening girls? No news from trinity yet either...
{sighs and goes off for a bath}

SHHHH · 09/02/2007 21:39

Hi all...!!! WELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.......................Ds has finally arrived and believe me what an ordeal .

I started with what I thought were bh's on tuesday night after our last attempt to get him out..dh bought me a curry which was not the hottest but by my korma standards it was lol.!!!

At around 6.30 am I couldn't sleep through them any more so woke dh to get my tens, phoned del suite and told to maked my way down but no rush...arrived around 9am where they said I wasn't in labour and would prob send home. Walked around hospital for 2 hours assesed and shocked to have gine from 3cm's to 5. Into birthpool, out after 30 mins, unlike with dd I hated it, no relief. They wanted me out at 10cms anyway as I struggled to del dd's shoulders so they wanted to be in a position to be prepared iykwim. A doctor saw me and strictly said if no progress was being made I was not to have sitocin (sp)and an ecs was to be done. Given epi,had waters broke, soon needed epi topping up, anetietist (sp) in theatre so waited and waited, given diamorphine,no relief,so continued on g&a. 12 hours after arriving Harry Nathaniel was born at 10.02pm on 07/02/07 weighing............................................................................................................................................ 9lb 13oz .He is gorgeous but not bf well and the same with a bottle. Swollowed a lot of my mucus at the birth and is very sickly..advised it should clear within 48 hours..So noone is sleeping well except 19 months old dd..lol..!!

I am knackered and arrived home last night, my body feels like its been battered, I have a kidney infection which was discovered during labour, throat infection and basically want to roll back into a hole.!!

BUT at least ds arrived safely and all has gone well. I NEVER WANT ANOTHER BABY as I found this birth so so so so very traumatic. The mw's were brilliant along with my student mw BUT I felt I wasn't listened to over the last few months re: weight and size of baby. I am now waiting to speak to my consultant about the birth and my opinion is no more babies unless an ecs is granted before pregnancy iykwim. I know its raw but my view won't change.

Any news sc..? Thanks lm for your advice etc. xx

lulumama · 09/02/2007 21:42

(((((((((HUGS))))))))))

BLESS YOU AND LITTLE ONE ! lovely names, and a good weight !

so sorry it was traumatic...keep talking if you feel you need to...things will settle down, especially when you are physically feeling better, the infection and illness will take it out of you.....

suzi2 · 09/02/2007 21:43

Congratulatyions Shhhh - love the name. Sorry it didn't go to plan and I hope you are getting over the ordeal as best you can.

SHHHH · 09/02/2007 21:48

Thanks lm, think I will need to discuss it further..spoke to mw today and it all came back sadly..

Just seemed that everything failed. BTW I also tore again so needed stiching which doesn't help.

Suzi, just read sc announcement..YEAH I beat her to it .Although wish I had her story to tell........

Off now for something to eat, then bed while dh does the shirt while I sleep..then its swapsies. will be back soon xxxx

lulumama · 09/02/2007 22:04
