I haven't had many BH at all this pg (39+1) except for one night at 37 weeks when we thought it was kicking off. Last night at 7.30pm the pains came out of nowhere, no creeping in, just WHAM! They weren't regular though lasting about 40 seconds but varying from 5-7 minutes apart. No relief regardless of position. Had enough by 10.30 and went to bed. They didn't stop until 5am, which is awfully tiring the next day. M/w visited today and confirmed head is 2/5 (?fully engaged) and ready to go.
The contractions with my other two were almost always starting from the top and waving down across my bump, these gripped me under my bump seriously around my back (back pain was the worst actually) and felt like pulling up inside me. Is this likely to be pre-labour, or JUST the BH, is it like sometimes you labour for a couple of days like this before active labour or am I just hoping?
Sorry it's long .

sorkycake · 03/02/2007 22:52

Just for you JB have had a show this morning after a bit of a leak of ?hind waters, mild contractions all day but nada to note yet, checked cervix, high, anterior, 1cm long, about 2cm dilated and much more goop but still needing to thin a bit more really.
Just had a glass of wine and a curry, Dh now refusing to finish the job off because of show and the little stinker has turned OP on me. am side stepping up/down stairs as per LM's instructions.
Please God don't let this turn into NJ's type thread, I can read someone else's but not do my own, anyway hopefully SHHHH will be alongside for the ride as she's 4 days ahead.

I originally wanted 4, but stopping at 3 I think, it's taking it's toll this one, I feel that little bit older I'll be honest.

Ohhhh, it sounds like me in August, mild contractions and all of that.
I have to ask... are the cervix measurements your own (as a stalker of Lulu I have read the thread with the DIY cervix fertling and sweeping )
ALcohol will (in theory) slow labour I have been told

As my midwife said to me "the only thing that is gonna speed up that baby getting out is the thing that got her in there"

For OP, Lulu is deff your girl. I had terrible paranoia about breach, and spent 2 weeks on my knees and elbows

sorkycake · 03/02/2007 23:36

LOl Jb, I'm a serial cervix rummager, used it as part of my fertility cycle signs, so we're on first name feels.

Ah bum. I have to go to bed now as DD is being a PITA. DH is sleeping on the sofa just so that one of us is OK in the AM. DD usually sleeps like a trooper afer her bath and a bit of quality nork time, but the whole household is full of cold, temps etc.. etc..
Hope you have a good night and that nothing exciting happens, as I would hate to miss it, not that I am interested in the slightest you understand.
Night night all >

lulumama · 04/02/2007 09:48

jilly, i had DS at christiana hartley, then DD at ormskirk as no maternity services in southport anymore !! and i would not have been allowed to use the MLU as i was high risk due to previous c.s !

let me know when you are having number 3 !!

lol at sorky and her cervix ! good for you !!

yep, ina may gaskin says, 'it was all that sexy energy that got the baby in there, so use it to get the baby out !" or words to that effect !

you won;t be long now sorky !

sorkycake · 04/02/2007 11:57

Another night of mild contractions (maybe slightly stronger) and then a very slight leak when I woke this morning, basically same as yesterday. Dd is fascinated as to why I'm stairclimbing sideways . Haven't searched for cervix as I don't want to introduce infection. Just gotta wait I guess.

lulumama · 04/02/2007 12:02

yep!! you can alternate the stairs with gym ball ! and leaning over things...

will not be making more flapjacks today as have just eaten two and feel sick.

suzi2 · 04/02/2007 13:55

Sounds hopeful sorky. Just read your OP and have to say that my actual contractions, as opposed to painful BHs, felt like I was being pulled up from the inside - like a string pulling up inside my bum. Totally confused me lol. Hope it's not long for you now. DS was OP to start with so not sure if that's why I felt it all in my back and bum.

SHHHH · 04/02/2007 15:59

sc just to answer your post from last night...yep I suppose I will be around for the ride! 40+4 today and still\nothing. Been for a walk today with dh and dd..Only managed a walk for around 20-30 mins as I walk at snails pace and find it hard. Almost walking with a football between my legs.!!

Well off to see the consultant tomorrow. I never saw my own on wed and apparently although the registra I saw refussed an induction and was not concerned about me having a big baby etc they would rather refer me to my own consultant who is only available on mondays!! So back again to hospital tomorrow for more conversations and opinions. TBH I am desperate to get baby out as I am hating this atm but a little concerned about an induction.. BUT like dh said, I can either see about having one asap or leave it and still possibly need one in 8 days time iykwim.....tbh I am exhaused with trying to make desisions and trying to see what is the best option.....
All I know is that I want to be me again .

lulumama · 04/02/2007 16:08

oh.SHHHH...poor you (((hug))), hang on in there.....wait and see what happens tomorrow ! might wake up in labour !! x

SHHHH · 04/02/2007 16:25

lulumama · 04/02/2007 17:09

sorkycake · 04/02/2007 17:45

Ok I'm still here, contracting away, but no signs of anything happening as such. The BH are getting stronger but not regular. Been like this since 1pm.
WHERE IS THIS BABY!?!
