What is the best hospital in London to give a birth?

Hi, I am looking for hospital in London (NW, Central) to get the best pregnancy care and give a birth? Any recommendations? I am looking for nhs. But if you have information about how much are the private ones I would like to know as well.

I was a birth partner for my friend. She was under queen Charlotte care. She had a few complications during her pregnancy and on the day of her labour they were on point. I have never seen such organisation and care. I've had four kids in Kingston upon Thames. Which I was happy with but the midwifes in queen Charlotte were on another level. Also the after care was amazing too. With my third I was just about kicked out of hospital as they needed the beds. The doctors we very attentive and available when my friend needed to be updated or just needed reassurance. My cousin has also given birth there with two of her kids. She was very high risk pregnancy with the first being 4 months prem. Her experience was also very positive. The experience and care of stuff is above and beyond. Also the rooms were very clean and tidy when we entered.

I have zero experience myself so take this with a pinch of salt, but I've heard lots of people choose to go to UCH instead of their closest hospital as it has a good reputation. It also fits your North/Central criteria.

Have you been on the Which? Birth Choice website? I found that really helpful when deciding where to give birth.

I had my daughter at Chelsea and Westminster last October and couldn't fault it. The midwives and antenatal care were fab, the MLU is almost brand new and amazing (I didn't get to use it as had GD so was consultant-led), and the labour ward was also great. Very supportive midwives, excellent consultants - I genuinely enjoyed giving birth (that might have been the epidural!)
The postnatal ward was pretty noisy, but unless you go private then you'll have that experience anywhere. We paid for a private room for my last night (on the NHS ward, not the Kensington Wing) and that was nice and quiet.
We've now moved quite away from C&W but I'll be going back there for baby No2 anyway, which I think speaks for how safe and well looked after I felt.

Chelsea Westminster is where I gave birth. A friend recommended queen Charlotte. I would take into account which is closer. Obviously, st marys is a good choice too. If it's good enough for Prince George and princess Charlotte, it must be good! Lol.

Can you chose any hospital?

Im in Noth London. I've given birth in The Royal Free, The North Middlesex and The Whittington.
The Whittington was far from perfect but better then the other two!

The birth centre at St Marys Paddington was amazing when I gave birth there 15 months ago.

The one place I'be never heard anything negative about is UCH. I have not direct experience but from everyone I know that's the one that stands out from what they've told me!

I have given birth at Royal Free and Barnet, Barnet was fine but I would never use The Royal Free again. I'm due to have this one at Queen Charlottes as I've now moved and have friends and family who have had really positive experiences.

In the basis of talks with friends about their own experiences/my own/research Queen Charlotte is meant to be the best but due to demand it actually has catchment area (could be wrong!). Other than that C&W and UCLH are up there as far as prenatal care and neonatal care is concerned. Post natal care (unless you have complications and require extra care) is pretty much meh to bad for most.
