Could I get away with wearing a tampon for an hour during locia bleeding?

I've been taking my 15mo dd to swimming lessons every week since she was 11wks old. We had a 4 wk break from it over christmas and she had a really tough couple of weeks getting back into it.

I'm expecting another baby in 8wks time and really don't want her to have another long break from the lessons while I wait for the bleeding to stop. There isn't anyone else who can take her for me.

So, do you think I could wear a tampon for an hour about 2/3 wks after birth, provided there's no stitches etc...?

I would check with your m/w. My bleeding had really calmed down 3 weeks after my dd was born, so I probably would have been comfortable wearing a tampon for an hour or so, but I guess it depends on your own bleeding at the time. Good luck with the birth

I think it would probably be OK. The main risk is infection at the placental sire I guess, but by 3 weeks it will probably have healed over more or less.

I have to say though, I don't think my fanjo muscles would have been up to holding a tampon in that quickly

I'd be very impressed if you took a toddler swimming just a couple of weeks after giving birth.

Agree with daisymoo - i dont know if it would work all that well, things dont spring back so well 2nd time around..... Mind you, with one of mine the bleeding stopped after 2 weeks anyway so there might be no need.

If swimming is so important, can DP/DH take her instead for a couple of weeks?

am impressed. I wouldnt consider going swimming so soon after a birth - but then I am a lazy cow

I personally wouldn't want anything up my fanjo so soon after giving birth, but then I am a coward.

a lazy coward.. not painting a very good picture of myself am I!?
