I'm on my second pregnancy first went fine but labour horrific. Now scheduled for an elective 1 week before due date. I've 2 weeks to go but feel like i'm ready to give birth any day and am frightened of going into labour before the planned day for section. Baby is engaged and i'm having period like pains constantly which I never had with my first. I just wanted this time to be a calm and less stressful exprience. Anyone any advice or had a baby before a planned section?

Go to your midwife assessment unit and ask for a CTG session if you think you might be in early labour. They may well advise you to rest and stay horizontal to reduce the likelihood of things continuing.

However, I had symptoms like you for fourteen weeks without a delivery and then went overdue.

Also they can switch you from a scheduled to emergency section if you need it.

Unless your problem last time was a precipitious labour, in which case, buy a butterfly net and practised your catching

Yes, I had a bad labour with first baby, so asked for section.

Had cramping pains and slight show 2 weeks before elective.

Went to hospital, and they dug out my notes on birth plan, and said "if the baby is coming now, we will deliver by section as this is what you want"

As it happened contractions stopped so went home, and dd delivered by section 2 weeks later, and it was a FANTASTIC experience!

Hope this helps...

Yes me i am afraid

I had my section booked for 11th Aug but my body decided to go into labour on the 6th Aug, my due date was actually the 20th so was 2 weeks early, think it was due to size of ds as he was born @ 38 weeks weighing 9lb 6oz.

I was having contractions and my waters had gone (i think)so i just rang up hospital and then went down they examined me and i was 3cm dilated so the section was done that afternoon. I am pretty sure i had been in pre labour all the week leading up to this, i had a show on the monday and had lots of VERY strong braxton hicks then it all kicked off on the Sunday morn.

If you do go into labour before your section booked for, what i am trying to say is they will still do the section so don't worry.

Good luck xx

Pucca how long did they take to do the c-section from the time you got into hospital? Was it very stressful? I'm worried my husband won't make it in time for the birth.

is baby no longer transverse? i take it not, if engaged....

i would recommend to call labour ward if you are thinking you were in labour.....although constant period pain does not sound like contractions, which build and strengthen and time between them diminishes...and last around a minute.....might be prelabour / braxtons

Think i'm just paranoid and no doubt have a tummy bug. Baby turned tues thank goodness -happened actually at the consultants! Anyway positive thinking that the baby will come on the scheduled date two weeks today!

fingers crossed mojomands !!

I'm feeling the same. horrendous problems with my first, now have a colostomy bag and REALLY need not to go in to labour to prevent further pelvic floor damage. Section is booked for 4 weeks time but I'm fretting, for no particular reason other than a tummy bug today, that the baby will come early.

So no advice but lots of sympathy from me!
