does the position of the placenta determin the babies lie?

tittle says it all really.

but my placenta is low (4cms from opening) and posteria.

earlier in pregnancy baby was head down and since becoming larger has reverted to a breech position. midwives seem to think its not goin to change and i wondered if any of you knew of women who had successfully turned their babies with a low placenta.

im 35 weeks so still got a while to go.

With both DSs I had a low anterior (front)placenta. DS1 was transverse then oblique (big head, stayed there, opted for elec CS). DS2 was all over the place, but was very small so I don't know if there was more room for him to wriggle!

I looked into this because my placenta was fixed to my right hand side and I was a bit concerned.

Apparently the position of the placenta can affect the baby's position because babies seem to like the face the placenta (can't thibk why, can't be very nice to look at for 9 months!). So a mother with an anterior placenta is more likely to have a back-to-back baby. But I don't think it has to be that way, it's just more likely.
Can they not turn your baby for you, or show you positions to get into now to help the baby settle in the best place?

anterior and low placentas can mean baby stays breech..that is true..but not set in stone!

if it is posterior, might be less of an issue

and of course, there is the option of ECV...if possible

if your placenta is not too low, and you can go for a vaginal delivery. you can deliver a breech baby vaginally !
