Is there sometimes lots of blood with a show?

I had just finished watching the Buzzcocks Christmas Special when I get the feeling my waters had broken and ran to the loo. When I got upstairs, instead there was a lot of bright red blood, which seems to have calmed down. I called midwife, and she said it is probably just a heavy show. Has anybody else had lots of blood with a show?

Yes, mine was quite bloody, but, a great big jelly blob of it. Like id mixed red and yellow/clear jelly together, half and half. Is it liquid blood?

Yes, quite a lot and not dark but quite fresh looking.

Best of luck. x

i got what u describe during contractions and dd did arrive about half hour later! but my labour was only one and a half hours in total.

what a lovely xmas pressie! fingers crossed for u is this your first?

Hattie, it's my second. Had just finished filling my dd's stocking ready for tomorrow, and was hoping things would hold off for another day! My parents are driving down from Lincolnshire to London as we speak, so I've ruined their Xmas dinner too.

Bleeding was quite liquid, bright red and alarming amounts, but baby has been moving lots. I'm hoping it's calmed down now. Booked for a home birth, so eager not to transfer to hospital before labour has even started. At least it looks like I might avoid that induction I've been stressing about!

have i missed a christmas birth???

MardyBum · 25/12/2006 17:52

Lulumama, no you've missed nothing! I had a show last night, more this morning, and then some irregular, mild contractions on and off today. This is very different from my first labour, when mild contractions quickly ramped up to really strong ones and it was over within about 10 hrs. Hope it gets going tonight.

Oh, and Merry Christmas .
