Any pains worse than childbirth?

Wondering if anyone who has given birth feel they have experienced pain that is worse than the pain of child birth?

I've got what the doctors think may be chronic appendicitis. When it flares up, I've never felt a pain like it. I think rather than it being about pain thresholds (which are a bit bollocks really), it's about how different bodies react differently to different types of pain - I had a drip induction and everyone told me it was horrendous but it was okay, didn't need an epidural. The pain from the appendix, however, is on a different scale altogether and I would take a billion epidurals during a flare-up if possible.

I had a burst ovarian cyst at about 8 weeks pregnant. Pain was excruciating. I still feel that way, despite that pregnancy ending in an 80 hr +, back-to -back labour with forceps delivery.... Ovarian cyst was as bad, if not worse. Pain lasted almost as long too.

Yes for me there have been much worse pains than childbirth .
The pain of a kidney stone was excruciating
Also ️sciatica - off the scale jagged shooting pains that freeze you to the spot.
Totally different to the surges of labour pain, felt more in control with labour pains.

Tooth access. Definitely worse.
As pp said, you get a short break between contactions where as tooth ache is constant. Also, you know that as labour pains get worse, it's also coming to the end. Toothache getting worse is simply toothache getting worse. There's no light at the end of that tunnel!

A kidney infection 3 days after giving birth. Worse pain imaginable. I was half carrier into a&e in my pj's and didn't even care !

treaclesoda · 28/11/2015 14:33

Gall bladder for me as well. But it's a close call tbh. Also in many ways the C-section and afterpains of dc2 were worse than the (long, complicated) labour of dc1 because at least in labour there was pain relief of sorts.

Pancreatitis is well documented as the worst pain.

DramaAlpaca · 28/11/2015 15:34

Sinus pain for me. Childbirth was a doddle compared to that.

BrienneofQarth · 28/11/2015 15:38

Trigeminal neuralgia. I live in genuine fear of the next attack but don't have the same feelings towards impending birth of dc2!

HelenaJustina · 28/11/2015 15:42

4 children, natural delivery.

Having a badly broken leg set with only 2 paracetamol on board as pain relief was much worse and gall bladder lasted longer

TheNumberfaker · 28/11/2015 15:46

Appendicitis was much worse!

Badly broke my ankle at 35 weeks pregnant, the birth of my back to back baby was a walk in the park in comparison tbh. If I could have got hold of the woman who manipulated my foot into position whilst I used gas and air I would have ripped her limb from limb as the pain was incredible.

Utterlyclueless · 28/11/2015 19:44

Would much rather give birth over and over again than have the migraines I have 3 times a week

CPtart · 28/11/2015 19:51

The acute flash of sciatic pain when you move or twist wrongly, like an electric shock. It renders you motionless.

pretend · 28/11/2015 20:04

Breastfeeding.

Much worse for the first few weeks.

BeverlyGoldberg · 28/11/2015 20:06

Cornea Ulcers : I once had three in a row after suffering a paper cut to the eye. A particular low point.

Appendicitis : not worse but on a par with and went on for longer... and no baby at the end of it.

Badders123 · 28/11/2015 20:06

Gallstones (biliary colic)
Nephritis (renal colic)
LP headache
A paramedic told me that biliary and renal colic are classed as the most sinful conditions.
I concur :(

Badders123 · 28/11/2015 20:07

Sinful?
Painful!

BumbleTalking · 28/11/2015 20:31

As someone who hasn't really experienced any of these pointless pains, how can they be worse than childbirth, if you don't open scream and hollow in pain like you do whilst giving birth?

Just a question, I was only wondering. Sorry to jump in OP Thanks

wanderingwondering · 28/11/2015 20:42

Omg I am now petrified of experiencing any of the above pains!
I found labour fairly horrible but I think it was more the experience than the pain-induction, reaction to the pessary, having waters broken, constant monitoring, not being able to move around etc etc.

I have had 2 horrific stomach bugs which I felt were worse than labour

wanderingwondering · 28/11/2015 20:42

I never screamed in labour!
