Blood Loss after birth - I am worried !

I gave birth to DD2 on Monday and ever since Thursday I have had very little to no loss on my pad. When I go the the toilet and wipe there is a red streaky loss and most of the time there is red stringy loss hanging after I have weed.

Sorry for way TMI but am a bit worried as my stitches are hurting quite a bit still and I remember with DD1 my loss had gone sort of pinky by now and wasn't still bright red.

Any advice or opinions ? Midwife not coming til tomorrow and last time she came was Thursday so didn't know if I should just wait to see her tomorrow or not.

Do you have a phone number for the midwives? I had one that I could call if I had any concerns.

No advice, sorry,as can't remember, but congrats for the birth. You could call the hospital and speak to a mw I'm sure.

lochia tends to start heavy & red, then paler then almost white....it doesn't have to be heavy for a long time.....mine was very light after the first few days..

i know big clots and big gushes are not good.....

you won;t bleed the same after each birth i'm sure....as long as you have not tenderness, fever or pain, you are more than likely ok.....

why not call the midwife...put your mind at rest?

also, see if you can get hold of some arnica as it does really help with the brusing and healing..

make sure you support your perinuem when you go to the loo..press a clean pad on them when you go ...make sure not exerting too much pressure...

hope you are feeling a bit more comfortable soon.,x

Congratulations on the birth!

I remember losing a large amount of blood straight after the birth (including huge clots - that wasn't good), then it tailed off for about a week, then restarted again and went on for about 4 weeks.

I think you should phone your midwife just to make sure everything's ok.
