What were the first signs of your labour starting (aside from contractions of course!!)?!

Ok.. I know may seem an obvious answer, but I am curious to know!!

My first sign, when i just knew it had started, was needing to go to the toilet.. like i had never been before .. was the same for both dd1&2!!!

And i didn't start contractions until 4 hours or so later!

in hindsight - i had a lower back ache all afternoon and evening (which i never usually got) and contractions began at 5am next morning

Woke up with contractions - had aching pains in the small of my back and lower tummy.
