Sorry if tmi - but a question about 'the show'

I'm 8 days overdue with my second.....as you can imagine I'm getting a little bit fed up and am looking for any sign that labour might be imminent.....
Sorry if tmi but I've had quite a bit of discharge over the last few weeks - but nothing that resembles the 'show' that I had with dd1 - which was blood stained. Does the show always have to be blood stained, or do sometimes you not have a show?

Hope this makes sense!

I think you always have a show, but dont always notice some times it comes away in bits, or during labour.
From my personal experience it doesnt need to have blood, but is different to normal discharge, more slimy like snot (SORRY!!) with traces of blood or without,
anyway hth, and good luck with the birth

There is always a show afaik but it can happen at any time, weeks before labour or in the middle of labour. I had one with DD when I was 3cm dialted and in active labour which was snotty with blood streaked through it but this time I had one which just showed pinky discharge on the loo roll when i'd been to toilet.

Think they can be anything from mucusy, snotty, bloody, pinky, clear - lots of variations

mine was a big mucousy blob- no blood..then a week on and off of more and more mucous!!!

show not always bloody and can vary from pregnancy to pregnancy...

you do get increased discharge towards the end , but the show tends to be more mucousy & even snot like!

HTH!

Thank you again - oh I really hope I don't have to wait too much longer. My dd was 12 days late so I guess that I might be......

you do get more discharge during pregnancy and a show doesnt have to be blood stained.

if the discharge is green (one of my patients described it as like snot in my knickers!!) or smells tell your m/w it could be an infection

hopefully your bump will arrive soon

good luck
