I know it has been done 1000 times before, but if nothing else I just want something to do with myself while my body decides what it is going to do.

I felt fine all day, got to about about 5 o'clock-ish, and very suddenly started to feel sick, didn't want to eat dinner but DH made me eat some toast which perked me up a bit, have been having fairly mild but intense contractions (can you have mild and intense at the same time?!!) with a tiny bit of back pain, coming every 8-10 minutes or so. The contractions aren't painful, but just really tight, and the baby has dropped really low.

Anyone who has followed the last 5 weeks with me, this is completely different to every contraction I have had before!

I actually feel really silly posting this, in case it turns out to be nothing, but I am bored and can't concentrate on the telly, so thought it would at least take some time up.

LOL MKG, I spent the first 3 months of my first pregnancy not eating hardly anything, I was literally living off fishfingers, I'd have no breakfast, one fishfinger for lunch, and two fishfingers for dinner!! I lost loads of weight!

This time, I am only now really getting to the point where I will still eat anything I fancy, but I have to do dinner in 3 or 4 sittings else I just can't fit it in my belly!

Ok NJ. I'm off to my bed. Will log on in the am to see how you're doing.

Now that the kids are in bed have you and DH.... you know..... had a quick..... you know.................?

NatalieJane · 29/11/2006 00:06

No laptop, ours broke months and months ago, we have a desktop now. And I have tried letting the contractions go on to see if it starts anything but nope, it just hurts more and keeps me awake longer!

I, and you lovely lot, are just doomed to another 2 weeks of this

bum in the air!

NatalieJane · 29/11/2006 00:10

No, no quick 'ahems' going on here, snotty noses, and threat of leaving 'stuff' behind for the midwife to find while doing the sweep has put me off!!! LOL But tomorrow, I will have the sweep (as long as DS goes to school) I have a trip around town planned, and then sex sex and more sex, even if it doesn't do anything, DH will be pleased!! Also going to start taking the RLT again, and get massaging with the oils...

The next thing will be resorting to bulldozers I think!

G'night Marsy

calsworld · 29/11/2006 09:28

morning luludoula and lgt - hope you don't mind me crashing, i'm from NJ's due in Nov thread and I've been following this one too....just wondered if you don't mind....I'm not sure if I'm in v early stages of labour or just being v optimistic so in need of a bit of guidance.....EDD is friday.

I had a show yesterday, first time, unlike NJ's daily exhibits!, and had a couple of strong contractions, then nothing until 1.30 this morning...I've been up since then with painful contractions but very irregular (anything between 20 minutes and 8 minutes apart) and between 35 and 55 ish seconds long....could this be the start of the long road? or is it likely to be false start?

lulumama · 29/11/2006 09:33

hi calsworld.......labour is one of those mighty unpredicateble things...and patience is necessary ! yeah right...!! all sounds promising...

when the time between the contractions diminishes, the pain intensifies and you can;t talk through the pain, you have to close your eyes and go in your own world..its a good sign this is it!!!

you could well be gearing up ..but whether baby comes today on in a week is hard to say!!

each contraction helps you along the way

listen to your body..it will tell yo what to do..whether that is to rest, walk, eat, sleep.......

keep us posted!

largeginandtonic · 29/11/2006 09:40

Am so excited for you calsworld, im sure it means it's all going to happen. No contraction is wasted, they all do something so hold on to that thought. Luludoula gave the best advice, rest, eat, walk just do what you feel. Dont get anxious about how far you may be along, in the big scheme of things it doesnt mean alot. The body is very clever when you are in labour and instinctively you will know when its all imminent. Godd luck and keep us posted, everything crossed for you its not long now.

calsworld · 29/11/2006 09:46

Thanks guys....in that case, I'm going to try and sleep coz I'll not be up to anything otherwise...then I'll head out with the dog and see where we go from there.

Will keep you posted - I know how much you like to stay up to date!

Thanks again, Cal

Morning girls, well nothing - as suspected!

DS is off school again, he did eat a small beef roll for lunch yesterday and a small bowl of pasta for tea yesterday, but I was still umming and arring if I should let him go back today or not, he seems loads better in himself, still a bit bunged up and coughing like mad, but he has been off the sofa the last day or two, but he gets tired really easily (i.e. he has a wonder round for 5 minutes and then goes back to the sofa for a good hour to get some more energy!) So I have kept him off again, his penillcilan should finish today so I think that and another day of eating (he has already finished his bowl of shreddies which he hasn't touched since he got ill) should have him back on track.

But, this means I am going to have to cancel my midwife appointment again, she did say if I had to cancel it was fine and she would come to the house, so the ante-natal checks will all be done, but I don't know what will happen about the sweep now, she can't very well do it with DS in the same room, and I don't know if it looks bad leaving a 4 year old downstairs on his own while we are up stairs? I know he knows what he is and isn't to do if he is left down here for a bit (while I get ready etc.) and he isn't likely to stray too far from the sofa, and his Ninetendo DS anyway, just don't know if it is the 'done thing' to leave him alone when the midwife is here? Does it look bad? Am I just being a worry wart? LOL

LG&T, you are safe from me, aside from nothing hapening, I am about to go and get in the bath anyway!

See you all later xxx

Good lord NJ total worry wort....admitttedly i am a lax mummy but in this house at 4 you are making your own brekkie, getting yourself dressed and going out to play on your bike (Very safe married patch we live on) My 4 year old would think i was being weird if i didnt leave him alone. In fact the baby (23mths) carries his own brekkie to the table in the morning and finds his shoes before we go out. I call it giving them independance...

Im sure he will be fine if you nip upstairs for a sweep with the midwife. Just leave him a bowl of sweets..

lulumama · 29/11/2006 11:59

oh yes.....he'll be ok..won;t take long...stick him in front of cbeebies!!!
