I'm getting indiced today, just wondering from being induced to giving birth how long it took for you?

My 2 were 9am start, 3am birth and 9am start again 12.45 birth the following day. The second time I was held up due to no beds on labour ward

MappingTheMind · 23/06/2015 07:49

DC1: first pessary to birth was 48 hours, really active labour for last 16 hours.

DC3: they broke my waters to induce and I was holding baby 55 minutes later.

KingOfTheStupids · 23/06/2015 07:58

Waters broken at 10am, not much happened until about midday so put on drip. established labour by 2pm. Baby arrived at 4:30pm.

Freyathecatt · 23/06/2015 08:01

Good luck today OP!

I was straight onto the drip at 3pm, waters broke along with first contraction at 4.30pm, he was born at 5pm. Lovely.

formidable · 23/06/2015 08:13

Induced (drip) at 9pm, baby at 1:30am.

My advice would be to bear in mind that, if the labour ward is full, they won't do much as they won't have anywhere to take you if you go into labour. I turned up at 10am expecting a pessary at 11am, another at 8pm and another at 6am but was hoping not to need the second or third one.
Turned up at 10am, ante-natal ward had been turned into a post-natal ward as they were so busy so we were sent to the cafe. Finally had first pessary at 4pm. Nothing happened. At 4am the following morning I got some cramping. At 7am, they went to give me a second pessary but didn't as my waters were bulging. The finally took me down to the labour ward at 4pm and broke my waters at 5pm. At 6pm, I was put on the drip & had an epidural at 6.45pm. Fully dilated at midnight & DD eventually born at 4am (would have been sooner had the theatres not been full). Given that saga, I was surprised when, prior to the birth of DC2, a MW referred to my "fast" labour but from waters breaking to fully dilated was slightly faster than average & this was DC1. At the time, it was really tedious as it was just delay after delay and I had continuous cramping and would have been happier at home with a hot water bottle & TV.

Went in Friday at about 2pm, pessary in a 4pm, nothing happened, two lots of the gel stuff over the next two days, nothing happened, was barely 2cm dilated so they broke my waters on the Monday morning. Started having contractions but still only 2cm, put on drip, nothing happened......DS was born by c section at 4.10am on the Tuesday after they finally gave up! I had no idea it could take that long! Good luck OP, I hope yours is a nice fast straight forward birth.

ihearttea · 23/06/2015 08:50

Around 20 hours from the pessary going in to baby being born. Only half of that in established labour though, the rest was quite civilised with a leisurely lunch and walk to try to help things along.

Good luck for today.

CarlPoppaJaJiggyJarJardoo · 23/06/2015 08:56

Pessary in at about 1pm,contractions started at about 5pm,baby born at 2am.

Dappy28 · 23/06/2015 09:45

Baby 1: Prostin at 6pm, ARM at 8am, Syntocinon at 9am, baby at 3pm.
Baby 2: ARM at 8am, Syntocinon at 11am, baby at 3pm.

Induction is okay in my books.

StockingFullOfCoal · 23/06/2015 10:50

Pessary at 11am. Not much happened. Broke my waters at 6pm, baby born at 7:34pm! Fabulous birth.

CommanderShepard · 23/06/2015 10:54

AROM at 0930

Second stage started around 2215
Transfer to theatre for forceps (failed) 0030
EMCS and delivery of baby 0106.

hayleycookie · 23/06/2015 10:56

Induced at 9.30 30th April, DS born just after midnight on 1st May! Long ass labour! Pessary, two lots of gel, then eventually an IV drip to really kick things up! Best of luck with your labour - no mater how long or hard it is I promise it will be worth it :)

MrsHenryMountbattenWindsor · 23/06/2015 10:58

Pessary at 11am. Pushing at 12pm, emergency c-section at 4:10am, bfing at 4:30am. [shudders at horrific flash-backs].

5 years later, sitting down having a Brew in peace and quiet.

Good luck!!!

MrsHenryMountbattenWindsor · 23/06/2015 11:00

That should have said pushing at 12 AM

TakesTwoToTango · 23/06/2015 15:29

No need for pessary, waters broken at 9am, nothing for two hours, started on drip at 11am, drip turn up steadily, was 4cm by about 3pm. Fully dilated by 2am but baby stuck. Delivered by forceps shortly after 10am next morning.
