DS was born 5 days ago, today i have passed what i think is a clot i know it's normal to pass small ones but this was huge about the size of a fist and looked like jet black jelly. Sorry i know that is gross. Is it normal or should i mention it to the midwife tommorrow?

ANYTHING that worries you even slightly ring the midwife. That's what they are there for. They would rather have 10 phonecalls that are nothing than miss one that is potentially serious. Phone NOW!!!!

I wish I had a 5 day old - my baby is a huge lummocking 5 year old and I have to beg for cuddles! Have a lovely time with him!

Thanks for so many replies, i asked the m/w today she has noted it and said its fine just to keep an eye out for any signs of infection. Thanks again
