How long from waters going to birth ?

I'm 36+4 with dc2. Dc1 was 10 days late and my waters didn't go til I was in labour.

My waters broke in the early hours of this morning, initially no pains, rang labour ward they said to come in as I was under 37 weeks. Had ctg monitoring which showed contractions 2 in every 20 mins, I could feel them by this stage but not incredibly painful. I've been admitted to mat ward as I'm under 37 weeks. Just waiting now. Still having 'contractions' but they aren't anything too bad to handle.

Not sure why I'm asking as obv every story is different but would be nice to hear others stories of how long this might take.

Plus I am BORED!

Well I've been discharged to go back in tonight for induction if labour hasn't started properly by then. My mild contractions have slowed down. Going to try and get some rest now.

My waters broke about 5 in the morning but I didn't have Dd until after 2pm the next day...!

Good luck Titty. Hope things are moving along for you now.

TittyBojangles · 07/01/2015 20:16

Thanks. Had a bit of sleep. Had a few painful contractions but they have tailed off now. Need to go back in in a couple of hours. Just wish things would get going on their own!

Just an update for anyone who happens across this thread. Ended up being induced 34 hours after waters went (as no available beds before), via prostin pessary as was only 1-2cm dilated when they examined me. Ds2 was born 2 hours later! Came on very very quick in the end. All well, 2nd degree tear, he's now having a snooze. Grin

Congratulations!

Congratulations!

My waters went early with both DC; both at 36 weeks.

With DC1 I was in hospital for ten days before he finally decided to come! The consultant said that it was better to keep me going as this is the last stage of lung development, and as long as the baby wasn't distressed and I wasn't showing any sign of infection, it would be fine.

With DC2, waters went and he was born less than 3 hours later.

Cheeriosfortotoro · 09/01/2015 12:43

Yay congratulations! :)

MissWimpyDimple · 09/01/2015 12:44

2 hours. 35 weeks.

YoullLikeItNotaLot · 09/01/2015 12:47

Lovely to hear.

Not that it matters to you now, but like a pp, my waters only broke minutes before my babies were born & I was fully dilated.

Whooshtheyweregone · 09/01/2015 12:49

Congratulations!! Grin It's a bit irrelevant now but I gave birth 99 hours after waters went. I had to be induced as contractions kept stopping and starting.

NickyEds · 10/01/2015 10:39

30 hours. Waters broke and I went into spontaneous labour but there was blood in the waters so I had to stay in hospital. After 24 hours I was contracting every7/8 minutes but not progressing so had to have the synto drip. Then things progressed very quickly-drip stared to really work at 10 and DS was born at 1. Get the rest! I walked for bloody miles around the hospital to get things progressing and all it did was tire me out.

BigBoobiedBertha · 11/01/2015 13:34

Oh just seen this. How lovely. Congratulations! Glad it was over quickly once it got going. Flowers

DS1 - 30 minutes
DS2 - 104 hours
DS3 - 69 hours
DS4 - 51 hours
DS5 - 214 hours

It really varies! Hoping it's quick for you.

elliejjtiny · 14/01/2015 11:21

Congratulations. Should have read the 2nd page Blush

QuietTinselTardis · 14/01/2015 11:22

Ds about ten hours, dd a few minutes as they broke when I was pushing. Only pushed for 15 mins so can't have been long.

MyCrazyLife · 14/01/2015 11:22

A minute or so.

Although with DD1, we had no idea when/where my waters went?! The midwife thought it was when DH took me to the toilet (home birth), but there was practically no water when she was born.
