Hello everyone,
I have a browny-pinky sticky discharge, I'm guessing that's the show, right? I'm 39+4, and have been having antsy/wanting things done urges and increased vaginal discharge (sorry TMI!) all week. The BHs have been quite strong and frequent recently too.
Luckily, DH doesn't have to go out of town until the 8th November, so the baby is allowed to come when she wants, so 2 questions:
How much longer until I go into "proper" labour?
Is there anything I'm not allowed to do once the plug has gone? Sex? Baths that aren't just plain water? Anything else?
Or is that just once the waters have broken?
Blimey, this could be "it"!

heheh

I remember watching this stage of labour like a hawk, but in hindsight, I would just try to relax and potter about and not think too much about it - that may help things get going anyway.

You'll know when it's time to phone the hospital, believe me

danceswiththedevil · 15/10/2006 09:34

OOOOOOOOooh, so exciting! I hope this is it for you. Even if everything slows down for a bit your body is definitely getting ready...

Good luck!

MrsTittleMouse · 15/10/2006 09:36

Can't quite believe it's real to be honest!
Deep down in my gut I think that I'll be pregnant forever, and the concept that I'll actually get a baby out of all this seems a bit unreal.
I'm also scared to get too excited in case everything stops and I don't have the baby for another fortnight.

Wow...sounds like you're on the way. I remember with my first, whe she was delivered my first thought was "It's a baby". Stupid I know, having had 9 months to get ready, but you're right, it is unbelievable that you do actually get a baby after all this!! Good luck and keep us posted.

bettythebuilder · 15/10/2006 10:15

Just wanted to add a "Good Luck!"

It's so exciting...

arfishymeau · 15/10/2006 11:27

Any news Mrs TM? How very exciting!

MrsTittleMouse · 15/10/2006 11:29

Contractions are still very strong, in fact, they're very strong! But they're less frequent now. I wonder if I'm in a "rest and be thankful" stage. I hope that they don't go off all together, I don't fancy doing this for the next 3 days!

OP posts:
lulumama · 15/10/2006 11:31

mmmm rest and be thankful usually when around 8 - 9 centimetres i thought , to give you a rest before delivery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so i think you are having a natural pause in the proceedings!!!

how exciting!

CarolinahowlingattheMoon · 15/10/2006 12:26

are they regular Mrs T?

are they all over your bump or still low down?

MrsTittleMouse · 15/10/2006 13:00

They're everywhere! I feel the cramp in the abdomen from the top right down to my bum (sorry tmi) and in my back. And they're bringing on a stabbing sort of pain in my cervix, which I assume is her head-butting me!

They're still pretty regular, but not have as often as this morning when they were 8-10 minutes like clockwork.

danceswiththedevil · 15/10/2006 13:21

OUCH! Keep us posted!

Calista · 15/10/2006 13:23

If the pain and pressure feelings are in your lower back and bum, try getting DH to massage your lower back with his thumbs quite firmly. I had this type of labour pain with ds2 and the midwife helped me a great deal by doing that!

MrsTittleMouse · 15/10/2006 18:18

Well, the contractions are all over the place now, between 10 and 25 minutes, so I suppose that it's still going to be a while.
I see the midwife at noon tomorrow, so I think I'll just focus on that as something to work towards.

CarolinahowlingattheMoon · 15/10/2006 18:20

sorry things aren't going faster for you.

How long are the contractions lasting?

lulumama · 15/10/2006 18:25

my labour started like that, i didn;t count the little ones in between , but they were all helping!

MrsTittleMouse · 15/10/2006 21:24

They've all lasted a minute or a bit longer. They're getting stronger again now, and are roughly 10 minutes apart again. This baby obviously doesn't like the hours of daylight!
I have to admit that I've been a bit cheesed off this afternoon, being neither in progressing labour, or in enough comfort to rest/sleep. I was up from 2.30am to 8am last night with contractions, so I'm getting a bit tired.
Hopefully things are moving forward again now.

sounding positive!

fussymummy · 15/10/2006 21:38

Have you called the labour ward yet?

Are you vary far from the hospital?

If they're lasting over a minute and are every 10 minutes, sounds like you're well on your way to becoming a mum!!!

Good luck.

MrsTittleMouse · 15/10/2006 21:49

We live right next to the hospital, so no worries there.
The last one really knocked me off my feet. Either the TENS doesn't work, or it does and I really don't want to know how bad it would have been without it. I wanted active labour with little pain relief, but if the early warm-up contractions are this strong... bring on the gas and air!

OP posts:
lulumama · 15/10/2006 21:50

never mind the warm up - think this is it!! how exciting....!

RottenOtter · 15/10/2006 21:56

what fun!

pupuce · 15/10/2006 21:58

Yes but every 10 mins isn't exactly "it" either Lulu!
Have you tried paracetamols?
Can you talk during a contraction? You seem very lucid in between them....

lulumama · 15/10/2006 22:02

its a start though! and then they'll be every 7 then 5 etc.....trying to be positive on what has been a long night....!

MrsTittleMouse · 15/10/2006 22:08

I've had a couple of paracetamol. No effect as far as I can tell...
Trust me, DH has noticed a huge difference between these contractions and the annoying piddling ones this afternoon. I can't even open my eyes, let alone have a conversation or type a message! In between I feel OK though, which I think may be the TENS helping the backache.
