Has anyone had their PFB before due date?

As in not medically 'too early' but between 38-40 weeks? Anyone had a prompt first one? :)

I was naively under the impression that bar medical reasons, almost everyone went over on their first.
But every HCP I've seen (I'm 38+4) , upon having felt around and checked how long baby has been engaged has said with a wink and a nod "see you on due date ... if not before!" or "Ooh, hope you've got your bag ready". So I'm wondering...?

Not worried as had a growth scan last week, baby is within 'average' range for size etc' but just surprised.
Best not make any reservations or order online shopping..?

39+5 for DS1. Was so utterly convinced I'd be late that I didn't believe I was in labour for a while. (In my nct group, 1 was induced 3 weeks early, 2 were in week 39, 2 were 1 week late, 3 were 2 weeks late but only 1 induced). Apparently the majority of babies are born between 39-41 weeks.
Currently 39 weeks with DS2 wondering if he will be a little early.

You ladies are saying all of the right things!! I'm reading this thread with interest as I'm 35 weeks but the thought of another possible 7 weeks is too much for me to bear mentally. As soon as it's safe I want DC in my arms! Did anyone actively 'encourage' their DC to come earlier than due date or was it just luck?

DramaAlpaca · 03/09/2014 23:09

DS1 came at 39+2.

Sapat · 03/09/2014 23:19

My first was born at 38 weeks. DC 2 at 40 and DC3 at 39. My sister's first was born at 37 weeks.

snozzlemaid · 03/09/2014 23:23

DS1 - 37 + 3

getmeadrink · 04/09/2014 21:01

DS was two days early. I actually went into labour 4 days before he was due but had a ridiculously long 55 hour labour.

magpiegin · 05/09/2014 16:55

I had my daughter at 38+6. She was booked in for a section on 39+3 but I went into labour beforehand!

angelopal · 05/09/2014 17:48

Yes 39+6

littlejohnnydory · 06/09/2014 22:53

My PFB was born on his due date, 2 and 3 were both late (16 days over and 4 days over respectively). I do know a lot of friends whose first babies were born before 40 weeks.

MrsMinton · 06/09/2014 22:56

DS1 was 39+1 and only seven hours labour. DS2 was 38+3 and forty seven minutes labour.

Eminybob · 06/09/2014 23:07

37+4 here. I was measuring big though so I'm glad. Labour was reasonably fast, about 9 hrs.

PigeonPie · 06/09/2014 23:15

Both mine were born a day earlier than their due date.

ladybirdandsnails · 06/09/2014 23:19

Yes first a week early and long labour. Second a week late and over in 3 hours

My waters went at 37+2 but contractions didn't start and so I was induced and gave birth at 37+3. The nursery furniture hadn't been built and baby clothes hadn't been washed, I was sure I would be late. I'm 36 weeks today with dc2 but I still haven't learnt my lesson. The nursery is half decorated, I haven't bought anything for the baby to sleep in and clothes are still in boxes in the loft. I really must pull my fingwr out.

Primrose123 · 06/09/2014 23:46

DD1 was a few days early, due on the Sunday, and born on the Thursday before.

simpson · 06/09/2014 23:56

37+6 here for DS.

Dead on due date for DD.

pregnantpause · 07/09/2014 00:13

37 +7 for my pfb

FoodieMum3 · 07/09/2014 20:34

Yes, dd1 was born at 39 weeks. I had myself convinced I'd go overdue but there seems to be no truth in that at all.

39 weeks with ds today and nothing stirring :-(

CulturalBear · 08/09/2014 11:51

Statistically, we were told in antenatal classes, 80% go over with their first.

I technically did, but waters broke at 39+5 - DS eventually born 40+1 after induction was delayed. Irritating.

ChutesTooNarrow · 08/09/2014 12:04

I mentally prepared for a baby at 42 weeks so convinced was I my first would be overdue. I didn't even have my bag fully packed when I went into labour at 39+2! I also prepared for a long labour and was pretty much in shock that I was holding a baby six hours after the first twinge!

VisualiseAHorse · 08/09/2014 13:37

39 weeks exactly!

inconceivableme · 08/09/2014 20:54

Me. PFB was four days early, but I'd been in labour for 3.5 days in total....

CuppaSarah · 09/09/2014 12:31

I went into labour 3 days before my due date and had her 2 days before it. I would have liked a little earlier but I won't complain at two days early! My midwives all hinted they didn't think I'd make my due date and I'm glad they were right. That said I know of two other people who were told the same and they ended up one or two days over.

I will say though, for your own sanitys sake, convince yourself you will go way overdue! I was convinced I'd of had DD at 38 weeks. When she didn't arrived I was so upset and grumpy I was terrible company!

Heels99 · 09/09/2014 12:37

Completely normal. Due date is a guideline only
