Second baby due imminently and really confused!

Hi all,

Newbie here. Really need some advice. This is my second baby due in 4 days. My waters broke with my first ten days early and contractions started straightaway like shooting pains up the foof (sorry!). This baby everyone is surprised it's not come but more importantly I'm so confused! I keep getting extremely painful braxton hicks, Monday night and now last night, they are horrendous period pains with low down back ache and start regular then tail off. Monday night I thought was the real deal as have been losing bits if mucus plug for weeks and I has some blood mixed in but then bh's went irregular. After two hours I thought sod this I have a 2.5 yr old I need sleep and they stopped. Last night they were even more painful (and I'm not wusey as did sons birth with gas and air only) but I stubbornly laid down and went back to sleep!

I am so utterly frustrated that I don't know what is going on. It's like I don't know what a contraction is.
I will add this pregnancy in general has been totally different due to a lot of illness and I currently have a head cold-could this be stoping labour as my body is fighting it??

Is this one a girl? I think girls are often lighter? Although my dd was heaviest lol

He he I would be very surprised if it is! We don't officially know gender but ALL of dhs side are boys, including or first born! I think this one is just exceptionally lazy like its dad who I'm lucky to get to do anything! I honestly think it's run out of room and just can't be arsed to get out, it'd be too much effort! Never thought I'd make my due date but fellow tomorrow!!

Aww. My dps side is largely male babies. Until our dd!

He he how ironic, either way it apparently has beautiful lips! Our son did too, dh is a bit pretty I like to tease! Due date today and still NOTHING!!

He/she will come when ready I suppose!

I have never made my due date so can only imagine the frustration!

Scuttlemum14 · 23/07/2014 07:08

Absolutely it is so frustrating! And everyone has been asking as I was ten days early with ds! It just doesn't make sense in my head! Why would you be early one pregnancy then late the next? I'm pretty sure I didn't conceive this one ten days plus later and my measurements have only been a little behind (like a week) compared to ds. I keep going over and over it trying to find an explanation or a hint as to how long we might be waiting but there is nothing I can find to
Explain and no-one friends or family in my situation.

I think situations like this make you understand why some people don't reveal due date to others, less question asking!

Constant "baby yet?" Texts are annoying!

Every pregnancy is different, every baby is different - that's just how it is - there's nothing to "explain." The baby will come when it's time. I had a similar story with my second pregnancy... Bloody frustrating but the upside was that the birth itself was quick and wonderful! As if all the practice my body has been doing had paid off. Born at home, healthy and strong, as I hope yours will be too... Asap!!

Still no baby here either, still cramping and getting periods pains coming and going! Had an awful nights sleep too - so hot!!

Scuttlemum14 · 23/07/2014 13:34

Hah I know in a world full of explanations, the whole entire process of procreation and childbirth remains a mystery in some respects! Ah well keep me posted those of you expecting, off to mw soon
