Woke at 7.30am with mild contractions, it suddenly all got a bit exciting about 4pm, so made it to hospital (10cm dilated ) and DS was born about 1 hour later - just in time for tea!

Reece · 06/09/2006 21:36

DS1 - 13 hours (took ages to dilate)
DS2 - 3.5 hours

So much easier the 2nd time.

ZoeElizabeth · 06/09/2006 22:14

Firstborn (Daughter) - 56 hours, entocinon drip, with TENS and, in the end, epidural to get some sleep.

Second (Son) - 6 hours, TENS only, oh yeah, rock on, so proud !!!

DD is no.1 baby, waters broke but no pain or contractions that i cd feel then 5 hrs later hideous pain from nowhere, 1hr later in hosp, 5cm dilated, begging for epidural, 7 hrs after getting to hosp DD born by emerg cs cos head stuck, seemed much quicker in drug haze. was given pethidine and gas and air before epidural!someone in hosp said rapid onset of labour can cause head jamming at oblique angle, has anyone else heard of this? has anyone requested notes back from hosp, feel as if have no real idea of what actually happened in what order

expatinscotland · 06/09/2006 22:43

DD1 - 24 hours. Epidural. Back to back and hand up by her head. Forceps.

DD2 - strong Braxton-Hicks all day Friday. Sat., woke at 6AM w/contractions. Left for hospital about 20 min. after 9. Got there at 9cm dilated. She was born at 10.26AM.

Saturn74 · 06/09/2006 22:51

DS1 - induced 11am (on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday!) . He was finally born at 6am on the Friday. Forceps, fetal distress, epidural etc.
DS2 - induced 1pm, he arrived at 8pm (same day - thank god!) Back to back, only allowed to have gas and air due to fetal distress.

thewomanwhothoughtshewasahat · 06/09/2006 22:53

DS2 - 8 hours, 30 minutes, quite strong, but only really bad for the last five minutes after waters broke - no pain relief (but had gas and air for stitches ).

sarahlou1uk · 07/09/2006 21:15

DS - 16 hours
DD - 3 hours

kid · 07/09/2006 21:28

22 hour labour, but DD was born within 2 minutes of c-section being started. Thats what I call quick, shame the rest took so long.

FillyjonktheFluffy · 07/09/2006 21:29

50 minutes ds

then, 22 months later

36 hours, dd.

Ellbell · 07/09/2006 21:39

dd1 - elective CS, so about 10 minutes from obstetrician first wielding the knife to full-on screaming (that's from dd1, not me) and bloody hell I'm a mum!

dd2 - about 9 hours start to finish, which I thought was OK for a first labour, though I could've done without the two hours of pushing.
