Just wondering.
My mother was in labour for 97 and a half hours with me (as she is quick to remind me ) but with my 1st DS the whole thing was over in 15 minuets and my 2nd DS i got to the hospital at 8.30am and he was born at 8.49am

97 hours?
surely not!

zippitippitoes · 06/09/2006 19:13

dd2 was born at home as no time to get to the hospital..in fact i had time to get dressed and put tights on but not enough time to take the tights off before she burst out like a bank robber!!!

Coathanger · 06/09/2006 19:15

39 minutes with DS3

kimi · 06/09/2006 19:59

at bank robber.
DH missed DS1 as he was on the way to the hospital, as i had been there from the night before waiting to be induced, he gets to the delivery room, looks at the baby and says "oh you had our baby, why did you not wait for me?"

With DS2 he just looked at me and went "how the hell did you do that"?

Would like to point out DH is normally a very sain man and not at all prone to stupid questions!

It all depends when you measure it from, 97 hours ????? I was in established labour for about 6 hours probably 8-9 hours from first twinge.

Frizbe · 06/09/2006 20:14

1st 7.5hrs, 2nd 8.5hrs, my own fault got in the birthing pool, so slowed it all down

Piffle · 06/09/2006 20:16

5.20 am woke up with a hefty contraction, next one 9 minutes apart.
DP made tea and then they started coming 2 mins apart and lasting long time, quite painful
So we legged it to birthing unit. Got there at 6.05 dd born 6.28

That was my 2nd child, my 1st was even quicker, I knew I was in labour but when the midwife came to see me after I complained of vomiting and abdominal pain at home, she panicked when she saw me, flung me into her car and got me to hospital just in time. ds arrived 6 minutes after we did.
I just kept saying, but surely proper labour would hurt more than this, its not hurting at all really.

MegaLegs · 06/09/2006 20:17

DS1 6 hours
DS2 4 hours with a 3 min second stage.
DS3 Two weeks - he was the tricky third baby and I had contractions evry night for two weeks( OK not established labour but it was knackering)
DS4 elective CS he was a transverse lie.

crazydazy · 06/09/2006 20:19

DD - within 1 hour of first contraction.
DS - was induced at 4.30pm and gave birth at 11.45pm.

cupcakes · 06/09/2006 20:19

ds 8 hours from induction to c-section...
dd 4 hours from waking up already in labour to delivery.

littlepiggie · 06/09/2006 20:32

ds 6 hours, although did not think i was in labour for first hour, was just a bit uncomfortable but started bleeding as things were going quite quick.

CJinSussex · 06/09/2006 20:43

DD1 was born in 7 hours in a big birthing pool. DS1 was 3 hours in a small birthing pool. DD2 was under an hour in the bath at home. I even ran the bath water myself as the midwife hadn't arrived.

Mercy · 06/09/2006 20:45

at Piffle

dd - 6 hours
ds - 3 hours

Me - about ½ hour, my brother about one hour (born at home as was standard then)

All natural.

Don't know about my mum but my experiences of labour were f*ing painful. I went from okayish contractions to slam banging, screaming, shouting, hit the bed, hit dh, vomit etc type pains - esp with dd

Roobie · 06/09/2006 20:46

Waltzed home twinge free from a lunch date at 2pm, ds was here by 4.45pm

Beauregard · 06/09/2006 20:49

dd1 -about four and a half hours -so im told
dd2-55minutes

nikie1 · 06/09/2006 20:52

first child 2hours secound child 1&half hours and my last two were 20 mins

3andnomore · 06/09/2006 21:12

Ds1- first twinges/diarhoea started at midnight, arrived at Hospital at 6amish he was born 9.16 am! So 9h 16 minutes (ish)
Ds2- first twinges 01/11/02 midday, arrived at Hossie about 8am-ish, born 02/11/02 4.50pm (but it was a really lovely and gentle labour and birth )so I suppose 29 hours or thereabouts
Ds3- mild twinges 11/08/04 around 4pm,born around I think 8am or maybe 9 or so, the next day...tbh...I really don't know,it was the next moorning anyway, paiful labour all night, failed homebirth and born by Emergency C-section...so, that explained the blurriness
