What's your experience of the RVI Newcastle?

Anyone got anything (good or bad) to say about the RVI? I'm a bit worried because I've heard some scary things and as it's the only maternity place this side of Hexham I need to know (if I ever get pregnant!) if I'm going to need to plan a home birth! Aaaggghhh!

I had dd there in May. I was seriously ill with preeclampsia and dd was on scbu. They treated me really well. Yes they were busy etc but everyone was kind and thoughful which makes a huge difference. Parking is a pita though.

i had my ds there 4 months ago, went in to be induced. Ended up having emergency c-section and they staff were brilliant, havent got anything bad to say about it at all really.
What bad things have you heard?

I'm booked there, so far very impressed. Think like all hospitals the postnatal wards are busy busy busy but labour ward and obstetricians fab and paeds care excellent if anything goes wrong.

Ooh, it's good to hear some nice things. I know someone who works there and she says she wouldn't let her daughter give birth there which would leave a home birth as the only alturnative which I know can be v. positive but I would find that v. scary first time round! The way things are going at the moment though, it'll be a miracle if I ever get pregnant so I'd be happy to give birth in a chip shop just to have a child!
