Did you have any signs leading up to labour 2nd time round and if so what?

Gutted koala. I would think though from their intensity they will be back soon enough and hopefully for real next time. Fingers crossed!

I'm still here and waiting. Curry did nothing. Had period cramps all night and this morning but nothing more. I was in labour with dd by now last time so feeling tearful today. I didn't think I'd get to this stage.

Welcome to the madhouse floatyflo. I'm booked for induction on Friday and also have to be monitored throughout due to a previous difficult labour so have some idea of how you feel. Not happy as no birthing centre for me and will be practically chained to the bed. Can't wait!...

No further symptoms katie and pasta?

PastaandCheese · 18/02/2014 16:42

Hello floaty. Hope hospital goes well tomorrow.

How is everyone this afternoon? A bit of back pain here..... That's so crap in terms of a symptom isn't it?!

KatieChooChoo · 18/02/2014 17:14

Hi.
Eventful afternoon for me. I went to my midwife for a sweep but because of my 'damp' pants since sunday she sent me to hospital thinking it could have been my waters.
Spent the after there. Waters still in tack, had a sweep and cried like a proper little mard arse!! I am such a wimp.
But......... im 1-2cm. My ds came 12 after a sweep so im holding out all hope that this will be the same. I think im feeling twinges but with weeks of thinking 'this is it' with all the signs amounting to nothing im not so certain and think I could be imagining it. I know we'll all KNOW when labour kicks.

Pasta and babynuumber2 how are you both doing?
Pasta, back pain is better than no sign at all. I hope you're right about the crying part because i have been such a mardy bum this afternoon, feeling very sorry for myself. My dp tried to make light of the sweep on the way home. Bad move on his part! When he tried to demonstrate what the midwife would have done to me I bit his head off. Hes now gone to the shop to buy me some chocolate in an attempt to make up for his behaviour Wink: Wink
koala I hope it gears up for you rapidly hun.
floatyflo welcome. We all know the feeling of being ready at 37 weeks. With any luck you wont need to wait much longer

Sending rapid labour vibes out girls xxx

KatieChooChoo · 18/02/2014 17:17

Jayne ive had them shooting pains for a few months. They take your breath away dont they. I describe them as hot poker pains !! Pasta is right, the midwife told me its the baby settling on your nerves. Some fetes have no consideration for their pregnant mothers Smiley face: Smile

KatieChooChoo · 18/02/2014 17:18

fetus not fetas!!

BabyNumber02 · 18/02/2014 17:34

I really feel for you katie. I know exactly what you feel like. I refused the sweep on Friday after having it last time but maybe I should have let them as I'm feeling really rubbish now. I can hardly walk more than a few paces and my pelvis feels like it's going to split in two.

I've also had regular cramps which build up in intensity then die off nearly all day so wondering if this is the start of something. Probably not!

PastaandCheese · 18/02/2014 17:39

I had my DD within 40 hours of being 2cm at a sweep. Not as good as your 12 hours last time but still a decent anecdote to say you are well on you're way katie.

DHs pissing you off is a good sign too. I thought about smacking mine last night when I was bemoaning not knowing when the baby will arrive and he just said 'you'll just have to wait' in a world weary and mature voice as though I was just being silly to want this over with.

If there was any justice it would be their turn this time wouldn't it?

Izzyalex · 18/02/2014 19:05

Hey ladies I'm still here too!
Had some back pain like pasta and some tightening of the belly last night so thought I might be on the way but no such luck!
39 weeks today.
I'm still hoping he'll be here this week but dd1 wants him to wait till next week so she gets a day off school!(half term this week!)

Good luck and good labour xxx

Izzyalex · 18/02/2014 19:20

Oh I forgot - loose bowels too - that's another sign right?!

jayney86 · 18/02/2014 19:43

Hi all, bit of an eventful day here too. Went for liver function tests as my feet & hands are really itchy & it turns out I have obstetric cholestitis, so they've kept me in to be induced tomorrow.
Was fully expecting them to day there was nothing wrong & send me home, while we were waiting for the results we did a shop & bought frozen stuff & I bought a big ball to get bouncing on. Dh had to leave the hospital early so he could get the stuff in the freezer!
Hope all the aches & pains are doing their job & moving things along for everyone x x

PastaandCheese · 18/02/2014 20:43

Oh jayney that sounds miserable. Poor you.

How did your last birth go? Is there an indication induction will be straight forward tomorrow?

izzyalex I believe that is another nice, pleasant sign there will be a baby soon! When else would that be a welcome thing?

BabyNumber02 · 18/02/2014 21:19

Yes definitely loose bowels. I've heard that and had that the last few days.

Hi jayney86 My dp's cousin had that a couple of months ago and was also induced. Everything went fine. Good luck for tomorrow.

jayney86 · 18/02/2014 21:52

I was induced last time on the Sunday night & my son was born on the Monday afternoon so relatively quick, hoping for similar this time.
Loose bowels are a good sign, your bodies way of having a clear out before all that pushing (sorry if that's a bit gross lol ) x

KatieChooChoo · 18/02/2014 22:12

We do gross here jayney so dont worry, we have to be blunt to describe stuff.
It sounds like you're having a right tough time. We are routing for you hun. Fingers crossed it will all be over for you by this time tomorrow and you could possibly be sat at home, holding your new bundle and watching the brit awards???

Pasta my dp was trying to engage in conversation with me (about leadership / CEO's blah blah) when i read your line 'I thought about smacking mine last night'. I literally lol and had to explain it to my dp. You do make me laugh hun, thank you.

I recall being on a thread when i very first fell pregnant with my ds, it was in the first few weeks and my dp was annoying me to the point i couldnt stand being in the same room as him. I asked on a thread if it was normal, and some replied 'yes, it annoys me when my dh breaths'. It still makes me chuckle now.

baby2 if nothing happens then im already booked in for a home visit on friday for another sweep. They are horrendous but you just need to tell yourself they only last a few minutes and could save you being induced.... (she says while praying a rapid labour takes place in the next few hours).

Labour vibes girls xxx

Rockchick1984 · 18/02/2014 23:50

Hello all, mind if I join in the waiting with you? 38+3 with DC2, have been having contractions on and off for nearly 2 weeks now - get a few, start to get stronger / closer then fizzle out to nothingness again! Very achey and emotional tonight, had a big cry on DH's shoulder but am unsure if it was because I want the baby now or because I'll miss being pregnant - a bit of both I think Grin

jayney86 · 19/02/2014 01:42

Welcome rock chick (mo idea how to do the bold thingy), I think being emotional is also a good sign, I could have cried at anything the last few days.
Sat wide awake in hospital at the moment, the lady next to me her waters have just gone. My hips & back are killing me, like really string period pain already asked for paracetamol so I can get some sleep, feel like a whimp as I haven't even been induced yet!
X

PastaandCheese · 19/02/2014 07:27

jayney I was admitted last time too. TBH It was shit but at least you are well advanced in your pregnancy (I was too) so you won't be there long.

I was sharing a ward with a lady who was going to be there for at least another fortnight before having a section. She'd been there a week already with her two year old staying with her MIL and restricted to visiting. I take my hat off to her. I'd have jumped out the window.

You aren't a wimp. You could be starting your labour now with that pain? Even if you're not I checked that there aren't any bravery medals available on labour wards. Not so much as a sticker or balloon like the children get at the dentist but there is paracetamol and other analgesics to help you so you take what you need at this point.

Welcome rockchick.

How are you doing katie? Have you sneezed that baby out yet?

I have a feeling my baby will arrive at the weekend. I've lost the plot so much I actually told my childcare friend this like it was an established medical fact. She was very indulgent with me given she had given birth by this point with her children and just said 'I'm sure you're right'.

Now it's out there on the Internet you can all laugh at me on Monday.

KatieChooChoo · 19/02/2014 09:10

NOTHING.
Thought contractions had started at 3am, the pains woke me up and i timed them for about an hour, 4 mins apart, not harsh enough for a painkiller tho. Then i feel asleep and woke this morning to NOTHING.

God, sneezing him out would be amazing pasta. Loving your optimism for weekend and ive everything crossed for you (expect my legs, they're staying wedged open just in case i sneeze).

Hi Rockchick and welcome to the thread of disgruntled grumpy sceptical woman.

Jayne how you doing hun? has full blown labour kicked in yet?

DP has been packed off to work.
DS has been packed off to the childminder.
Im packing myself back in the duvet feeling sorry for myself. Ive already had a good cry this morning while watching the news. Its going to be a looong day so im hoping regular checks on here will cheer me the hell up.

PastaandCheese · 19/02/2014 09:39

Perhaps later today katie after a rest?

Failing that think of me..... DD wants me to show her how to do a forward roll....... The fact there is a baby in my tummy is on the list of unacceptable excuses.

BabyNumber02 · 19/02/2014 10:26

Hi girls. I still have cramps but they are just not amounting to anything. My poor dd is getting frustrated as it's half term and I can't do anything!

Well I know my baby will be here by Saturday due to induction on Friday. I've got today and tomorrow to get this baby out!! Sneezing it out would be very appealing to me too. I've never been so uncomfortable and sore. I swear my belly is going to fall off my body if I make any sharp movements. I wish I could go for a walk but I can't for the pain. My dp has also unwillingly went to work this morning. I think he thought something might have happened during the night.

katie and pasta. How far past your due date are you now? I am 41 weeks today. It feels like we have been waiting forever.

I hope everything is going okay for you jayney.

Welcome rockchick.

Rockchick1984 · 19/02/2014 10:35

The thread of disgruntled grumpy sceptical women? Sounds like I've found my Mecca Grin

Forward roll whilst heavily pregnant would be very impressive Pasta I think you should try, but make sure someone films it!

Good luck for today Jayney!!

Rhuba · 19/02/2014 10:38

I had a show at 37 weeks. Lots of Braxton hicks that week then waters broke at 37+6. Labour lasted an hour.

PastaandCheese · 19/02/2014 13:35

They seem tricky to get going these seconds babynumber2. The theme seems to be they appear rapidly once you finally get some momentum going.

I'm not even overdue yet Blush. I answered the thread a bit earlier than some and got sucked into chatting to everyone. 39 weeks so I'm coming up to red alert I guess. I've got no right to complain at all really.....

rockchick I'm tempted to try a forward roll as a means of alternative induction. There's a chance the baby might just fall out isn't there?!

Either that or my pelvis will give up for good and crack into little pieces.

KatieChooChoo · 19/02/2014 14:01

Honestly pasta you should write a book, your comedy skills are keeping me going right not.
I totally agree with rockchick about filming a forward roll. Maybe the fits of laughter will spur labour on for the rest of us??

rhuba please done show off Smiley face: Smile. Seriously that is a really lovely experience for you. You're very lucky. But i can imagine it must have been a little worrying being a few weeks early?

Baby2 im now 41 weeks also, i think we shared the same due date of the 12th??

No updates from Jayne. She must be busy having a baby or something!

So Rockchick from reading this thread have you gathered that 'signs' are not actual 'signs' and just mother nature playing games with us?

Ive pissed myself right off today by being in such a grump. Good job ive the day to myself! My DP said last night 'pregnancy makes you really grumpy'.... couldn't argue back really.

Wishing myself loads and lots of labouring vibes and to you to baby2

xx

PastaandCheese · 19/02/2014 15:25

Duh..... I don't think carrying another person in your abdominal cavity with the prospect of pushing it out a gap clearly too small for purpose any day now would put many people in a very chipper mood.

If I was a man I think I'd just be quietly thinking that I was pleased to be male right about now.

I'm hanging over my birth ball complaining to anyone who will listen (ostensibly DD but even she's bored of me) about my back pain.

It's nearly bad enough for a single paracetamol except they are upstairs and I'm not.
