Induction using prostin - any stories or advice?

Hi all, I'm 40+1 and they started the induction process with me tonight after diagnosing me with preeclampsia yesterday.

I have just has the first prostin pessary inserted nearly 2 hours ago. Since then just a slight bit of discomfort (I think this was from the vaginal exam more than anything else), and I have also experienced some tightenings.

Do any of you have any stories of how long it takes etc? Any positive or negative induction stories?

My cervix is soft, but closed. I have been told I will be given anoter internal in another 4 hours and may be given another pessary. The next stage would then be to break my waters in the morning and put me onto a syntocin drip.

Sitting here 33 weeks gone, reminiscing about my previous 2 inductions. They weren't so bad, fingers crossed. x Smile

Well they are prepping me for theatre just in case.

I'm not sure what I'm more anxious about now.. If they are able to break my waters or if they aren't and I have to have a section. Probably just all round nerves knowing that she is coming out tomorrow either way!

No change overnight ladies. The pains and contractions I was having disappeared by 1am :-(

Will be taken down at around 8am and they will attempt to break my waters. If not then c section to get my daughter out. It is exciting to know that either way, I'm getting to meet my daughter today! Hubby is on his way over.

Good luck! In some ways hanging about waiting is the worst bit! Fingers crossed for ARM, might they wait half an hour to see of that's enough before they start the drip?

Whichever way it happens, baby on your arms tonight, how lovely!

RandomMess · 26/01/2014 07:37

Not long now! Hope all goes very well Smile

Hi everyone!! Luckily the 3rd set of prostin worked and I was 2 dilated so doc was able to break my water. Hooray!

I was put into the drip to get my contractions going and by 11am I was in full blown labour. Sadly it was a little slow to progress though. Ended up on gas and air and also had 2nshots of diamorphine (I had hallucinations and all sorts on it and was also sick a few times).

After 13 hours of labour I decided I needed an epidural! Baby willow finally decided to make an appearance at 4am this morning, all 8 cute and cuddly pounds of her!

The labour itself seemed to go on forever but the pushing stage lasted 45 minutes total.

I'm exhausted today and feel like my insides are going to fall out every time I move, but she was worth every hour!!!

Congratulations. So glad it all went well. Enjoy your beautiful baby daughter.

I still can't believe that she's here!! I had her laying on my chest earlier and it's just hard to believe that only yesterday, she was in my tummy.

Although I'm exhausted, I can't sleep... I'm fascinated by every little sound she makes!

Gonna tell you now what I wouldn't before! My induction was terrible, took 5 days and I had an ellergic reaction to the pesseries. So glad it was quicker for you. Is this your 1st? x

babsie007 · 28/01/2014 12:37

Yes this is my first marylou and I'm not sure that I would hurry to be induced if I have any future babies!! Pleased that it's over and she got here safe and sound.

Had my bloods checked there this morning and I am anaemic as I had a larger than expected blood loss during delivery. I will be sent home with some iron tablets and also some blood thinning injections.

Hopefully I am on the road to recovery. I stupidly took my ted support stockings off last night so I have feet the soE of boats this morning.... Sad
