Is it true 2nd babies are usually earlier than the first?

Nope, DD2 was later. In fact, throughout midwives kept telling me that they reckon two days later for baby no. 2!

First 3 weeks early. Second two weeks late.

Not for me, number 1 @ 40+2; number 2 @ 40+3. However, as 1 was born at 9:30pm and 2 at half past midnight, the reality is that there was only four hours' difference with number 2 arriving 4 hrs later than number 1. Otoh, I started labouring with number 1 fully 13 hrs before I started labouring with number 2. The '2nd birth is much quicker' really did apply to me....

DD was 10 days late, DS was 13 days late. With both of them I had reached the 'just get this bloody baby out of me now' stage.

DD didn't need evicting, but I was induced with DS.

DC2 - 40+13, forcibly evicted. Not yet forgiven her
DC3 - due soon. Better not go anywhere near that overdue!

This was true in my case by a pound and a half... and DD was 8lb 6oz, so you can work out that DS was a whopper.

Oh, and the faster labour was true for me too. 7 hours for DD, and with DS I only got as far as the pessary before it all kicked off - under 3 hours, and about 6 minutes pushing.

Nope ds was 3 days early and dd was 4 days late. She was also smaller by 12oz

First - DD - 3-5days late, 6lb5oz
Second - DS - 3 weeks early, 5lb13oz

Yep, my incredibly overdue second was lighter too, though only by 3oz

Dd :- went into labour 4am at 39+2, born 10am 39+3
Ds:- went into labour 7am on 39+2, born 5pm 39+2

So I went into labour (3 hours) later with Ds but he was born (17 hours) earlier.

First 38+1
Second 37+2 today and nothing happening yet..... waiting....

Not for me either:

DC1 37+1 weeks
DC2 39+3 weeks

(Second labour longer too, although the awkward little blighter was BTB)

Second baby arrived on Saturday. They were both 38+1.

It wasn't true in my case. Dc1 born at 36+6. Dc2 born at 40+6!
