1-2-1 midwives Manchester

My friend has just booked with them on the NHS in Manchester and is wanting a hospital birth.

I said I would ask on here if anyone had given birth with them in a Manchester hospital and how it worked.

Did they actually deliver the baby? What happened if the labour was long - do they send another 1-2-1 midwife out?

Sorry, just noticed the dates on this thread Blush

But yes, berberana, if you have the opportunity I would definitely recommend that you transfer!

Advice please. New to the manchester area and pregnant with my 1st child, I'm considering using this service which I noticed at a recent baby show. Has anybody used this service recently In manchester?

Hi Meeru, I am in Wigan but if it helps I did transfer to this service at about 14 weeks (I'm 19 weeks now) and have already had 2 appointments at home, both over an hour so plenty of time to discuss anything that might be a concern. My midwife has emailed to me all sorts of literature on various issues do I can make informed decisions. I am having a (no cost to me) private anomaly scan next week in a Liverpool but could have gone to Altrincham - they are apparently more detailed and much longer than nhs scans and midwife will be there for support / to answer questions. I've been really impressed with the service so far - it's very personalised - I am classed as high risk by the nhs which limits some of my choices but having talked it through I think I am in a statistical box rather than actually high risk. My midwife is coming to my consultant appt next week to make sure we are all well informed and can proceed in a way that is genuinely best for me and baby. I would def recommend to transfer based on my experience so far.

They also provide free of charge hypnobirthing course if that's of any interest.

The approach is very much back to old style midwifery rather than highly medicalised approach which suits me nicely!
