Hi, I'm 27 weeks pg with ds3 or ds1!.

Both ds's were late - ds1 by 11 days and ds2 by 9 days.

I'm having an elective (ha!) caesarean (sp?) which I hope to book in for 39 weeks, but it has just recently occured to me that it's not a done deal that this one would have been 'naturally' late, like it's big brothers.

Beginning to wonder what the chances are that this one would be early - I know it could come early, late or even on the due date, but wondered at experiences on MN. Incidentally, I've had 2 very uneventful pregnancies, as is this one so far...

dd1 was 3 days before due date and dd2 was induced (for medical reasons) 1 week and a day past due date, I'm pg with dd3 or ds1 and I have no idea what this one is going to do, sorry no help at all

DS1 4 days late
DD1 4 days late

Consequently I thought that DD2 would also be 4 days late. Didn't pack my bag till about a week before I was due. Blooming girl came 4 days early! Shocked me! lol

DTs 4 weeks early.

josben · 25/07/2006 13:14

I'm currently 40 weeks + 11 days overdue with my third baby - a DD1! Both DS1 and DS2 were 40 weeks + 12 days and I was induced with both but I was hoping that this time I would be early as its a girl and it has been a very different pregnancy... So I've not had anything booked in or arranged to do in the last 2 weeks and have been eagerly waiting for some contractions - but alas NOTHING! So (as usual) I'm going in tommorrow to be induced at 4pm ... - Think I might be lacking that hormone to start labour off naturally too - same as rubyrioja!

MissyCocker · 25/07/2006 13:15

dd1 43 weeks
dd2 42 weeks

Hence me waiting until 41 weeks for dd3s elective c/s, I just can't help thinking that some people take longer to cook their babies

Gingeme · 25/07/2006 13:36

I have 3 ds's and one due in October. Could be wrong but it think it could be something to do with weight of baby! My ds1 was 10 days late and 8lb10 oz. Ds2 was bang on time and was 7lb and 11oz and ds3 was 4 days early and was 7lb 6 oz. What you think?

Dd1 17 days induced
dd2 16 days induced

and gues what.......

ds 15 days induced.

Soul destroying- pregnant with 4th and better go into labour on my own this time!!

Toady · 25/07/2006 14:18

You dont start going overdue until 42 weeks, if you dont mind me asking why are you having a section.

A NORMAL pregnancy is 37 - 42 weeks, is there any family history of late pregnancies, my friend quite happily carried all 3 of her babies to 43 and 44 weeks, she refused to be induced etc despite being under pressure, she did have a scan with her 44 weeker just to check the placenta but everything was ok. Babies came when they were ready to come.

Gingeme · 25/07/2006 14:29

Oh well cat64 that blows my theory out of the window then eh . I think babys just arrive when their ready. AS long as their healthy and feeding from the placenta ect there realy is no need to worry. Fortunately mine were all natural births so cant share any c section or induction stories.

jamiesam · 25/07/2006 19:59

Thanks for replies chaps - reassuringly random experiences, which make me think I need to be prepared for this one to be early rather than assuming it would naturally have been late.

Now I need to rethink whether cs at 39 weeks a good idea?! Or should it be later...

Toady - consultant's advice since I had 3rd degree tear with ds2 (ds1 an em cs, so I was a 'first timer' with ds2 ). Risk of a worse tear is an unknown quantity and I'm advised not to take that risk...

DD came on her due date - after I was convinced she would be late: I was late, my sisters were late, my mum was late, her sisters were late...

mumandlovingit · 26/07/2006 08:17

DS1 6 days early after slow labour for few weeks and very eventful pregnancy

ds2 8 days early after slow labour since 27 weeks and eventful pregnancy

hopefully next time things will go smoother and baby will want to stay inside until due!

Ds1 - 9 days late
Dd - 8 days late
ds2 - 7 days late

If I have another 7 children, I should eventually get one that arrives on my due date.

Toady · 26/07/2006 09:07

may be of help - quite interesting reading

SuperSaint · 26/07/2006 10:02

DD (1st baby) 14 days early
DS 5 days early.

Both natural labours so I obviously like my babies a bit undercooked!

juuule · 26/07/2006 10:04

All of mine were overdue. 1st and 9th were induced at 41+6 and 42w. Seems like mine need extra time to be 'done'.

Medulla · 26/07/2006 10:05

DD was 2 weeks early due to elective section for breech presentation. DS arrived on due date!

SecurMummy · 26/07/2006 10:06

dd1 and 2 were both 2 weeks late, ds and dd3 were both two weeks early

kittylette · 26/07/2006 11:13

DS1 - 15 days overdue - induced
DS2 - born on EDD

hanlong12 · 26/07/2006 12:12

DS was spot on - arrived on his due date. Obviously nothing to do with the 5 hundred weight of fresh pineapple, curry and raspberry leaf tea that I had...

doodledo · 26/07/2006 12:58

I also wonder whether the timing of the birth has anything to do with the personality of the child. DD1 - a dreamer, slow and ponderous at many tasks ( including dressing for school - hurray for the holidays ) was induced at 40 + 11 and then had to be forced out with several gos of the ventouse.
DD2 - very impatient, dives into everything whilst talking 19 to the dozen - exactly on time and so quick that she was born in hospital toilet - didn't make it to ward.....

LadyT · 26/07/2006 14:19

DS was spot on time. He was due 18th Dec, and I was in labour all of 17th. When he was actually born, nobody looked at the clock. By the time the placenta came, I looked at the clock and by then it was 2 mins past midnight. I was allowed to pick which day he was born on - so I picked 11.59 on 17, so he was a minute early!

porolli · 26/07/2006 14:20

ds1 7 days early, 61b 11
dd 7 days early, 6lb 12
ds2 7 days early, 6lb 11

all started with waters breaking in middle of the night!
