I did on 2 out of 3 births not that I gave a shit at the time. But I am curious how common it is?

I didn't, but DD greeted the world with a big meconium poo to make up for it. Not that I would have cared it I did!

EssentialCoffee · 23/12/2013 14:06

I didn't but it certainly felt like I could have!

nomoreminibreaks · 23/12/2013 14:22

I didn't. But I did fart quite a bit, which I hadn't thought of and that was pretty embarrassing and made me giggle while pushing

Hoping for a waterbirth in the next week or so, hoping there won't be too many bubbles Confused

whereisthewitch · 23/12/2013 14:24

I had an epidural so probably couldn't tell if I had however I don't think you'd particularly care tbh.

I do remember feeling like i needed to poo before the epidural went in.

BettyandDon · 23/12/2013 14:28

I definitely didn't but just before labour I did have a 'clear out' so much so I thought I had food poisoning...this happened at both my births.

siblingrevelry · 23/12/2013 14:30

I did in one out of three. I hadn't realised until the midwife supervising the student delivering me pointed it out loudly to her. Cheers!

LovesBaublingTheTreeAgain · 23/12/2013 14:31

Nope neither time

radiatormesh · 23/12/2013 14:32

Both times.

Couldn't have cared less.

MummyIsh · 23/12/2013 14:33

I got told by 2 different midwives that virtually every women poos during labour, and if you didn't think you did then you more than likely had a very discreet midwife who just cleared it away quickly without you noticing! Not taking that as gospel though.

I'm 38wks with my first so not experienced labour yet, but it wouldn't bother me at all if I did poo... I even hear midwives have a little 'net' to fish floaters out of the birthing pool :-)

Bowlersarm · 23/12/2013 14:39

Hahahahaha OP. Did you notice how you've written this?

Just curious how many women poohed in labor? I did on 2 out of 3 births followed by not that I gave a shit at the time

Oh yes you did OP.

Beastofburden · 23/12/2013 14:41

Once that I can clearly remember.. But I expect I did it every time.

Tea1Sugar · 23/12/2013 14:42

I was soooo paranoid about pooing I asked the MW every push if I had! Luckily I didn't!

Norfolknway · 23/12/2013 14:44

1 out of 2

It all happened so quickly and no pain relief either / was the last thing I was worried about Grin

sapphirestar · 23/12/2013 14:44

I don't think I did, and I'm absolutely positive my mum would have mentioned it some time over the last 5 years if I had!! Xmas Grin

littlemslazybones · 23/12/2013 14:45

Midwife: You need to push
Me: I can't, I'll do a poo
Dh: Hmm That ship's already sailed

The only thing worse than the pain of childbirth is having a fucking comedian to share it with!

magicballs · 23/12/2013 14:46

I didn't, even though I preempted labour with a fry up and was really worried about pooing myself! I kept asking my DH if I had! I also kept farting, was most amusing in the bath
The "poo net" is also for picking up great big clots of blood, as I discovered

PaschasDanglyReindeerBaubles · 23/12/2013 14:50

The midwife knew I had chilli for dinner the night before. Undigested kidney beans float in the pool. Who knew?

littlestressy · 23/12/2013 14:51

I did, midwife gave me a quick wipe - all good!!

freakingoutabit · 23/12/2013 15:07

Not that I (or husband) was aware with #1, but I did with #2 - I said I wanted to go to the loo (I was standing up, having contractions) for a poo and the midwife was all 'are you sure? That feeling can mean the baby is coming really soon' so wouldn't let me go to the loo and got one of those little cardboard kidney dishes which I had to poop in standing up (she also put mat on the floor and some poo went on that). Mortified for her. And glad I did it before male consultant arrived...

To be fair whole labour was less than two hours and I only pushed for about ten minutes (starting about ten minutes after the poo). Lovely midwife gave my bum a wipe with something lovely and warm. It was like heaven. I remember groaning how nice it felt and immediately apologising for pooping and remarking they were not paid enough for that.

rach6122 · 23/12/2013 15:22

Yes but I wouldn't have known if dh didn't tell me. I wouldn't have noticed in the pain and midwife was super discreet.

Jesus, who had time for A.A. Milne?

AwfulMaureen · 23/12/2013 15:37

It's "pooed"

Sorry.

Pooh is a character not a bowel movement.

thornrose · 23/12/2013 15:38

Yes, I remember shouting "Oh god, have I pooed?" and getting really emotional about it Blush The midwives were great and denied it and quickly whisked it away.

Lovely DP though confirmed that yes I had and he laughed and said ugh Shock
