Get some prune juice in.
I seemed to get progressively more constipated after birth, and the prune juice seemed to help.

I was terrified, but after the first time (with no catastrophe), it was definitely less scary. I have never felt more proud of managing to go to the toilet.

Best poo Ive ever had! Lovley big soft golf balls which just slipped right out! Confused You did ask for TMI!

I second prune juice. I really really recommend it - you need a nice soft poo for the first one.

I had forceps and episiotomy. The weeing was fine, didn't hurt or sting at all. Poo was slightly more traumatic - it wasn't painful as such but I think I was so swollen down there after everything that I didn't have any control of any of the muscles so I couldn't 'push' or anything like that when the time came to go, I kind of just had to let it come out by itself. Not easy when I was constipated on top of it all! I was in the toilet for literally an hour for every poo for the first few times! I was quite worried that I was never going to be the same again, but it all calmed down after a few days and am happy to report that its all completely normal now...

Also I didn't wipe after first few poos, I ran a shallow saltwater bath and cleaned myself in that, adding to the time Spent in the bathroom for a simple poo.

Ahhhh memories Grin

Yes, I might try prune juice this time and the lactulose I was given last time did absolutely nothing - I was seriously considering necking the whole bottle at one point!

I had a horrible mw post delivery last time who handed me a measuring jug and told me I had to pee into that and provide a sufficient amount of urine or I wouldn't be 'allowed' to leave the hospital (I had said I wanted early discharge). The tear I had made peeing really sore (and due to having to fill the jug wasn't allowed to do it in the shower or with water running etc). So I physically couldn't go - not because there was something wrong with my 'waterworks' per se, but because the natural reaction to the sting of the urine was to clamp up. I explained this to her and she looked at me like I was a naughty child and said that wasn't an excuse!
