Hello I have recently found out I am pregnant and am trying to choose between Barnet and Watford hospitals. I have done some research but still can't make up my mind I'm also a bit apprehensive as it is my first preganacy. Any recommendations? Thanks

I had dds 1 and 2 in Watford General. dd1 was very complicated and I had her in the delivery suite and she was in SCBU. Delivery staff and SCBU were fantastic, postnatal was not. Had dd2 in the Birth Centre with just midwives-superb all round but home after 6 hours so didn't experience postnatal that time. This was 5 years ago so hopefully someone more recently delivered will come along and say postnatal is better now .

i had my ds (4) at barnet, its quite new and comfortable, i was laid up there for a few weeks and thought the care i had was very good. the consultant i had was excellent!

Thanks so much for your replies . Barnet is closer to me so I will probably go there its just I looked at DR Foster's birth unit guide on the internet and it seems Watford has more single delivery rooms and facilities. Although that might not be so important. I think my poblems is I've done too much research so its great to have some feedback from women who have been to those hospitals.

Im booked in to Barnet and so far I have been cared for very well, I like how clean & modern it feels . If when labour happens and barnet close their doors , Ive been recomended by midwife at Barnet to get on the M1 to Watford!!!. I think id like to visit Watford to get a feel for it.

I didn't know you could go to Watford if Barnet is full. A friend of mine was supposed to deliver at Barnet but on the day they were too full and they sent her to Chase Farm but she said they had a nice birth centre there, where she got a private room so it worked out well for her.
