syntocinon, I think

TheMammy · 26/05/2006 14:18

Is it Oxytocin?

TheMammy · 26/05/2006 14:19

Blush I think I've got it mixed up with something else.

syntometrine - close tissy!

schneebly · 26/05/2006 14:20

It is usually used unless you ask not to.

tissy · 26/05/2006 14:21

I was close!

I put in my birth plan that I was happy to have the injection. It was actually my midwife who suggested that we wait and see how the labour went. If everything went well, and I had a natural delivery then she suggested I might like to think about delivering the placenta naturally. I didn't have the injection, and delivered the placenta really quickly and easily.

I din't have it, wasn't offered, but had a home birth with DD2 and really can't remember with DD1, don't think I was injected with her either though.

expatinscotland · 26/05/2006 22:18

i had it and it hurt like hell.

MrsDoolittle · 26/05/2006 22:22

I had it first time but I would'nt have known only for the whopping great bruise I had next day.

Second time I had to get out of the pool to deliver the placenta. I was given the choice after ds was bron in the pool. I decided to get it over and done with.

make sure you tell them before the birth when your more clear headed if you don't want it. had a drug free birth and had planned a natural third stage but mw injected me without asking before i realised what she was up to.... too busy watching dd. really annoyed me and i had a PPH which i'm convinced was because of the bloody jab
