TENs machine if you have metal plates?

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience of using a TENs machine with metal plates? I have a plate and a few screws in my ankle and reading through the instructions yesterday the manufacturer says I should ask my medical team for their advice.
Midwife is flumoxed and not keen to advise one way or another. Am assuming there is a risk of the metal heating up or something?
Anyone got any experience?
Thanks in advance.

The tens machine will be strapped to your back rather than your ankle. I imagine you will be fine. Its not as if the current or the voltage are particularly large.

Incidently I don't have metal plates in my body so I am not the person to ask.

thanks for the response anyway, I imagine it should be ok and they are just covering themselves but was keen to hear from anyone who had used it in this situation?

I have metal plates and pins in my foot and leg up to the knee and used a tens with no problems.

If a person has metal plates and screws in their ankle and are using Dr Ho’s circulation promoter is it safe to use? Considering the pads are on the person’s feet not their back??

I've got metal plates in my arm and in my skull.. used a tens machine last weekend for most of my labour. Pretty sure I don't recall reading this in the instructions on mine and the various teams I see at the hospital (who def know about the plates in my skull...) asked me a lot if I was planning to use one. As others have said the pads go on your back so if you had plates there then ok maybe but not anywhere on your body generally...
