does any one know the record of c-sections that have been performed to one woman

i have had 2 sections, 1st being with twins and 2nd after a failed vbac and i was told i would need to have another csection for any futrue pregnancies (also i'm 10 weeks pregnant)

I've had 3 and always said 4 would be my absolute limit and my consultant was fine with that - there will be no 4th though :-)

i've just done a bit of reading on the net and have discovered the world record is 13!!!!! i would agree with you and have no more then 4

Good lord - I'm shuddering at the thought of it and it's nothing to do with 13 lots of surgery.

I've had 2 and my consultant said I was good to go again. Well, my uterus is more positive than I am! ;)

My Mums friend had 6!

i think they just go the other way. vertical instead of horizontal.
i knew someone with 5 and by the 5th the consultant was cross with her

My mum had 5, no problems!

I've had 5. Now i have a lot of weakness in my abdominal wall and have an incisional hernia that has been fixed once but has re-appeared.

My consultant was gearing up to do his 6th on a woman from the UAE who flew into London for each one.

My friend has just had her 5th C-section.

A lady two doors down from my parents' had had 8 babies by c section, I think she's had another since I left home.

My obs told me it was a very individual thing, some women could have 5+, others only 1 or 2. Myself, I had 3 and was told after the 3rd that my uterus was 'like tissue paper' and to go again would put me at high risk of a rupture.

Interesting reading. I have only had one but I am already worried about the number of children I may or may not be able to have because of it It would break my heart to be told my uterus was "like tissue paper" Elah. Did you feel finished after 3 children or would you have liked more?

I have a friend who has had 4 between 1998 and 2005.

I have had 1 but also had other operations in that general area.
When it looked like I might have to have another operation in the same region,the, I think it was a consultant,said they would be reluctant to do it as I already had had enough work done there.As it happened I didnt need the extra operation.So you may want to bear that in mind if you have choices further down the line,or at least talk to someone medical about it.

pixiestix thankfully dh and I had already decided when I got pregnant on no3 that we were done after that, so it wasnt a big deal to be told I couldnt have anymore, but I am sure it would have been devastating to hear that if we had wanted more children.

I've always wanted a big family but having had an emcs and a repeat emcs during an attempted vbac, my consultant said I could probably get away with one more baby if I wanted one but that would be my limit in terms of his confidence in my uterus.

I'm not prepared to risk it tbh. And financially and practically it's probably not the right thing. I try not to think about it too much tbh.

I know someone who has had 6.

I had two, the second a failed v-bac, but the surgeon said it was lucky that they'd chosen to do another section rather than let me continue to labour, as the scar wall was very thin. This was a factor in me deciding not to try for a third baby.

I've had four & consultant said that my uterus looked okay to have another pregnancy (we only wanted four) but I know someone who had a rupture in pregnancy after three sections (discovered during emergency section) & another pregnancy would've been a bad idea. I also know someone who had a rupture in pregnancy without previous sections :/

The most I know of personally is a woman who had 8 - the last one was at 34 weeks & she had a pretty rough time.

I’m having a pain in my uterus just thinking of the poor women that had 13. I thought my life and body went through hell. I had 7 miscarriages and 1 ectopic pregnancy then 5 children via C-Sections. My body was pretty worn out by the time I had my last, but at least I didn’t have 12 other children at home.

Help me guys, I just found out I’m pregnant today and I’ve had 3 sections already and the consultant didn’t really recommend anymore due to scar tissue and the skin being very thin! She said if you really did want another I should at least wait a while beforehand to let my body heal...my baby is only 10 months...

I have had two both emergencies, and a long time ago, my c section babies are 50 and 48.
During my second pregnancy the consultant almost ordered me to have the tubal tie, because as he said, we cannot cut you open every time you want a baby.The decision then was to have my second baby by elective section, a rare occurrence then. Then the big man decided to give me a try to have a vaginal birth as the real reason for the first section was my baby going into transverse lie in labour.He went not transverse lie because; a) I am 4ft 10ins have narrow hips and my baby 's head did not engage. b) The doctor broke my waters, my baby moved his position.
Baby passed meconium and I went into obstructed labour, uterus was moulded round him so very quick dash to theatre just in time to save both our lives.We were both very il for a long time.
So on expert advice I go into labour again, lo and behold more complications, baby got his head stuck inside me another running by staff to get me to theatre before my uterus ruptured.
I had tubal tie done with this birth as I could not risk wait and see again.
If this was now I would have had more children by caesarean section and am envious of those people who are able to.In those days all sections are done under general anaesthesia, you were opened up with the longitudinal incision which carries a bigger risk of rupture in future pregnancies and labours.Thats why I was told I could not be cut open every time.This scar does not fade, I have it right down my abdomen in all it's glory even after 48 years.
I still envy all of you and those mentioned on here who have had more than two but I still would have stopped before I got nearer 13 though!
