Gag! Just lost a message - bloody iPad!
Thanks for all your congrats messages
. We're home since lunch time and all good (bar the tender nipples - praise be for lansinoh!).
Midnight glad that you're home and feeling good. I had a cat 1 section with ds and know how petrifying they are. I had to have my 6 week check at the hospital and was really glad of the chance to go over my notes and understand what happened and why. So talking talking talking is good.
feekery I had my sweep at about 3.30pm and no show until 5.30am the next day. But it worked as was in labour by that night! Fingers crossed for you!
lem hope all is going well with you!
bertie congrats! Sounds like your body was working away well but unknown ti you to finish the job so quickly at the end!

For everyone else wondering about sweeps, I was totally reluctant too. Had 3 was ds, including some bloody show, and was still induced. My obs was recommending them from 37 weeks this time but I couldn't be bothered to try that early. But the one at 40 weeks exactly worked this time. Still in shock that dd arrived at 40+2-was fully expecting an Easter baby!
Anyway, had a good labour - the hypnobirthing was really useful this time and i handled the surges well. Got to hospital at 6.30am, but had to wait on triage ward til about 8am before being admitted to the birth centre (due to shift changes). Was a bit disheartened after being examined around 8am and being told I was only 1-2cms (had been contracting 4 in 10 mins for several hours by this stage).
Went to the loo at 9am and was horrified to find meconium traces on the pad. Ds passed mec and I was convinced it meant another crash section. Doula was again amazing at calming me down and getting me back in zone. Anyway, rushed up to labour ward for cfm. Turned out I was 9cms though the midwife said 8cms to give me a bit more time. I can see now that i must have been in transition as was so panicky. Gas and air helped a huge amount at this point, as my focus returned to my breathing. By the time i was pushing i didn't need it anymore. Second stage was 9 mins and her heart rate was dropping so the doc had literally come through with the ventouse when I got her out myself. Had to have an episiotomy though and am now stitched to the hilt! So many stitches the head of midwifery who stitched me up lost count! I remember saying "oh I don't mind, I love stitching and crafts"

So despite having only an hour on the birth centre (I had struggled to get signed off to vbac there), it was a productive hour in terms of dilating. The midwives were all amazing, the doula was invaluable and dh was a tremendous support. And ds seems quite taken with the baby (well as much as a 2 yr old can be!). Am knackered now though!
So any tips on healing with stitches much appreciated. Currently don't seem to have bladder control as in can't stop weeing once I start. Am assuming this is normal and will pass!
In meantime, am expecting lots of babies here - c'mon babies, lovely sunny weather to be born!
