I am 38+3 with DC2. Hoping for a VBAC after an EMCS for DC1 with who I got to 9cm's with.

I have had period cramps for over a week, two lots of plug coming away and last night lots of tight feelings high in my bump. The period like cramps are really painful and often are alongside sharp pains down below.

I have a week to go into labour, otherwise I am booked for a CS. I am so fed up of symptom spotting and being in this 'is it- is it not?' place. I went into labour at 38+4 with DC1.

So someone come along and tell me lie to me that todays the day. Grin

I was induced after my waters broke and I didnt go into labour. I begged and got 30 hours to see if labour would start and tried everything bar the sexing (for fear of infection) . It was horrible and that's why I have ELCS booked instead of induction. 15 days to go. I genuinely can't imagine my body going into labour by itself. Especially as i think its 95% of women go into labour within 24 hours of their waters breaking, so I'm already in that 5% who don't.

Ah, kenobi, how lovely! &totally unfair

Now, someone tell me what to do- currently head down babies...if i go.into labour do I go in ASAP and have an emcs or try for a vb and pray I don't need any James Herriot style action which could re-tear my third degree tear which took ages to heal n dd only 18 months (as in, its not a really old tear, to me anyway!)? Not that it'll happen I'm sure.

It's a good question about the texts feekerry, and I'd love to know the responses to that text- send it to the next person who texts, regardless of who it is :-)

DreamingOfPeace · 20/03/2012 14:40

And THAT is the problem twopeas. I ate some with breakfast the other day, I cannot help myself, and gave dd 2 as she didnt understand why she couldn't join in!! st least with creme eggs you can try and limit yourself to one!

DreamingOfPeace · 20/03/2012 14:42

And ah, I've giggled over this thread today. I am too grumpy and not funny enough to post on here.... Maybe I should go back to lurking

TwoPeasOnePod · 20/03/2012 14:53

dreaming you are totally funny! Don't lurk! And don't worry about the tear (....that's an easy sentence to type, not so easy to do in RL..) as a previous tear doesnt mean you WILL definitely tear this time. I'd go with the flow and see how you feel, you might be overtaken by the urge to try VB, or maybe you will feel like CS is the way to go once things get going. Be positive and calm until time tells, good luck Smile

Also the mini egg suffocation incident was whilst I was eating them for breakfast too!! Blush It was Mothers day though, so that makes it ok...

TwoPeasOnePod · 20/03/2012 14:57

Also I think all first-time mums should read threads like this instead of the bounty bag shite Smile
I feel like I've come a long way since all that crappy bumf and pointless leaflets they give you to read with the PFB... I much prefer the hilarious competitiveness of these kind of threads (my piles are this bad, my pelvis has broken this much today, my iron tablets have made my poo jet black etc etc etc) Grin

Joygirl78 · 20/03/2012 15:01

Just got back from busy morning: drop off dc1 at childminder, drive to reflexologist (and relax....... Poor women still can't believe I'm pregnant), then Tesco, then parents for quick lunch. Unpacked shopping, put out laundry, and now cracked open diet coke (yes, I know it's awful and full of baby maiming chemicals, I don' give a monkeys) and reading this mornings postings and literally wetting myself laughing. It may be even enough to bring on labour - not - how ludicrous. Labour? When I'm due? What a ridiculous thought.

To whoever it was in the previous page who was unsure of dates and thought her edd was a bit arbitrary. The happened to a friend of mine who is an 'earth mother' and refused all screening other than (reluctantly) the 20 week anomaly scan. She knew the date they gave her then was wrong and too early but couldn't be arsed to make a fuss at the time. Her supposed due date came and went, and they told her she couldn't have a home birth. She went more than 2 weeks over - and due to duty of care they were forced to attend. She had a good delivery in a pool in front room and is fine.

MidnightinMoscow · 20/03/2012 15:08

Laughing at the egg addicts.

Right, back from the clinic. Saw the consultant this time. He feels confident the baby is not massive, but 'big'. Hmmm.

So, have a section booked for Monday am. Anything that happens between now and then is a bonus. They offered to break my waters etc but I declined.

Twopeas, I laughed so much at your "tiny sweet eggs of joy" comment.

Dreaming as someone else who had a 3rd degree tear, I have been told (and have read) I am no more likely to tear than anyone else. I don't know what extra chance you have of tearing with twins and any intervention that you may be 'advised' to have there though.

Midnight How exciting - how big is 'big' though?

MidnightinMoscow · 20/03/2012 15:17

He has said the baby is not 'macrosomic'.

Having a few cramps again now so off to rest up.

OP posts:
feekerry · 20/03/2012 15:18

ooh midnight you've had a final hour reprive then! Were you not tempted at all by them offering to break your waters?... not sure if i would have been or not. Monday is ages away. you'll def have your babe by then!

Flisspaps · 20/03/2012 15:24

Cramps? Get bouncing woman!

And eat something nice. Jaffa Cakes are something I recommend.

Excuse me for being thick (I am aware you're aiming for VBAC and so can't go down the induction route) but why is the baby being big an issue (I'm expecting a big baby myself apparently) for VBAC?

Given that scans and measurements are inaccurate (to the point where I don't think I've read a single MN post where someone was given an accurate estimate of their baby's weight prior to birth) I am loathe to take the estimated weight I've been given with anything more than a pinch of salt.

MidnightinMoscow · 20/03/2012 15:27

Just scoffed some Dairy Milk. Food of the Gods.

To be honest, the size of the baby is more my own fears. The Drs have been keeping an eye on the size, but its me who has become obsessed with the size. Silly I know.

Going on the ball in a moment, promise!

OP posts:
DaydreamDolly · 20/03/2012 15:52

You girls have made me giggle this afternoon! I have eaten 2 bars of Dairy Milk whilst DD and I watched The Cat in the Hat. Have had lots of niggles/cramps/pains today but am refusing to even get remotely excited about them.
Feek I am so going to tell the next person who asks 'Any signs?' about my increased discharge. Grin

rosebery · 20/03/2012 15:55

Sorry, still lurking!

Agree with flisspaps about size. Saw mw 4 days before dd was born and, unprompted by me, she said I was carrying a 9lb-er at least.

Dd was 7lb 5! (just as well, seeing as everything moved too fast for elcs .... )

caro200 · 20/03/2012 16:35

I just love this thread, I am a first timer (apparently geriatric!) and this amongst some of the others on MN has made me realise I am normal. It's ok to eat your body weight in chocolate, haribo and basically anything that moves :) if anyone tries to stop me hen they do so a their peril. The only thing that can become problematic is when bouncing too much I have dropped said chocolate and had to race the dog for it which is not a pretty sight, cue beached whale trying to crawl quickly across the floor. Having said that I can crawl very quickly much to the dogs dismay...

Gingersnap88 · 20/03/2012 16:44

Hello Late Ladies,

Have been giggling at the posts today! I have also become a mini egg fiend! They are too good.. Grin

I've taken to bed with a hot water bottle as I have such bad cramping back ache. I had a show this morning too. However im sure it's nothing... Right?Blush

Joygirl78 · 20/03/2012 16:49

Ginger it's probably nothing. Have a glass of wine and some mini eggs

Joygirl78 · 20/03/2012 18:14

On size, all I know is that dc 1 born at 37+5 was 7lb7 (3.4kg). So now I am 40 weeks with dc2 it's likely to be nearer 9lb if a similar build to dc1. I have a massive football bump, and both dh and I are very tall, average build (me normally size 12-14) so we are hardly likely to produce a nice 6-7lb full term baby.
I am not amused at thought of pushing out a whopper. I really really want a nice cute petite baby......not a huge 10lb er where everyone goes "00000 isn't he/she massive....."

MidnightinMoscow · 20/03/2012 19:04
