Am booked for a c section with a general on weds and a pedicure booked for tmrw. Just heard a rumour you can't have painted toenails during the op. Does anyone know if this is true?
Thanks
And-please-can we not have a discussion about the merits/ demerits of c sections and generals. Ta

Fissflaps - Thats not always true, I had an ELCS last year and afterwards had almost zero bleeding, not even one pads worth (TMI?)... I asked the midwife about it and she said its because they give you a 'good hoovering out'.... ugh!

Horrendous periods ever since though!

I seriously doubt my nails were painted when i had euther of my c sections so im really not sure. I couldnt even see my feet before the birth lol

I cant believe Im being this vain but.... I have worn really short acrylic nails for years. Do they have to come off or can I just remove the polish??

I can't believe Im worrying about this when Im about to squeeze a baby out my fanjo! Priorities will no doubt change soon!

Sillymillyb if you are going in for a normal delivery and end up in theatre they really wont care but if c section is elective i think they'll make you take them off :( they made me take my tongue bar out for my elective didnt care in emergency

When I was signing the consent form for an EMCS, I pointed out I had nail varnish on my toes & both the MW & doctor gave me a Confused look. I don't know if they would have removed it if I'd actually had the c-section (they managed to yank DD out with forceps so it wasn't needed in the end)

Im aiming at this point for a normal delivery so fingers crossed they can stay on. I have images of me in the throes of labour biting off the nails and demanding nail polish remover whilst I demand a c section. hmmm!

Unless its an emergency stick with a normal delivery i so wish i could have one. One born every minute makes me so bloomin jealous
