vamosbebe · 12/12/2011 09:03

oh my, i've just caught up on the whole thread!

hats off to you nickel and many many muchos congratulations on your little girl: welcome ISBN

and congratulations on becoming mummy and daddy :)

vamosbebe was born on 7th Dec weighing 4.4kg/10lbs !! forceps and episiotomy, but was allowed one final massive push instead of whipping me in for a c-section :)

stage 1 labour was a piece of piss: 5 hours of contractions, only the last 2 hours v v painful. they started an after the 'sweep' (bloody awful thing!). stage 2 the longest: 6 hours but with full epidural, so that wasn't so bad. however, he was so huge that the last push broke through the epi :(

hospy staff fabulous, and we came home Saturday just as my dad arrived from UK, so well-timed!

it's a truly wonderful feeling holding our DS, even crying 'cos he's full of burps! music to my ears!!! (i know, i know, give it time!)

he smells so wonderful i could weep!

are there anymore fresh new babies around??

xxx

nickelbabe · 12/12/2011 09:26

As of 8 am Nickel is still in and they may be transferring her to the ward later. That's all I know. I spoke to Mr Nickel briefly to ask about keys and cat food and she was eating tea and toast in the background so that's a good sign.

All I can say is Little ISBN is a BEAUTIFUL babe. Pretty little features and she came out all pink and wailing last night. She handled her birth experience fabulously too and because she was coping so well Nickel was able to keep going and get her HB. So YAY to team Mummy/Baby Nickel

Brilliant news you fantastic, wonderful superhero of a woman you! As promised I've been here all night checking in on the night feeds and hoping to hear more (why can't I post from my phone?)

Do we know name? Weight? OK I won't rush you.

Hope the hospital transfer went ok and the stitches aren't too bad. I had them with A and all I can say is remember to take it easy, stay off your feet as much as possible, take a good stool softener and eat plenty of fruit/drink plenty of water. You might not think you'll need it but you WILL...everything slows down after birth and it's better to be prepared. Jug of warm water poured over your stitches as you pee and lots of short salt baths with a bit of lavender and tea tree. Oh, and if you're really struggling pop a bit of tea tree and witch hazel on a maternity pad, pop it in the freezer for 15 mins and use.....instant relief! (I'm not sure about the rubber ring - I really wanted one but my OB said it would make any piles I may have got pushing worse so to avoid at all costs. The maternity pads themselves seemed to be enough cushioning though tbh)

I do hope you're well and you realise exactly what an amazing thing you did and have come out of this with no regrets whatsoever. I know the epi wasn't part of the plan but you have a wonderful, healthy baby girl AND you got a homebirth. Hooray!

pixiestix · 12/12/2011 09:33

Ahhhhh, congratulations Nickel!!! Smile

CarolCervix · 12/12/2011 09:34

weepy tears. thanks for the update.

HighHeidYin · 12/12/2011 09:34

Didn't sleep all night from excitement!

Nickel, hope you are recovering nicely today and being taken good care of. ISBN was a long time coming but she will be making it all worth it for you. Smile

My predictions were completely wrong. If you need a sure bet on a horse, don't ask me!

nickelbabe · 12/12/2011 09:35

Captain - I'm waiting for nickel to feel up to posting to share weight and name. I did a lot of updating and had her permission to post the gender last night but I think it'd be lovely for her to get to announce the name/weight/etc. Hope no one minds
