DH and I have been very upset to hear this evening that our friend's baby (due early Oct) has come early - can't be sure if it's 28 or 29 weeks, but certainly no more than that. I have NO idea about premature birth and how it's handled these days and not even sure if this is the right forum to ask about it - but does anyone have experience of this? Is 28/29 weeks viable? Are there health problems for the baby in the future? We're so worried - they're away right now and we know very little :(

my two surrogate godchildren were born prematurely. the little girl was born at 28 weeks, her brother born two and half years later was born at 30 weeks. They are now two very healthy and much loved children/surrogates!!

Pre term labour?

Currently 28 weeks pregnant with some period like cramping and some tightness (not sure if this is just baby moving tho) some mild back pain but enough that it is noticeable. Been running the toilet all morning with loose stools, had a lot of discharge when I woke up this morning (no blood) and cervix feels about 1.5-2cm dilated.
Does this sound like early labour or just body preparing. Very concerned as it's so early. My first child was 2 weeks late! X
