Does late baby = big baby?

Probably a daft question, as obviously being late gives them longer to grow, but just wondered if anyone had an overdue baby that was a 'normal' weight as opposed to a 10lber?

Am 41+2, being induced on Sunday and wondering if I should be packing the larger baby clothes...

I went 42+5 with DC1 who weighed just 7 lb 10. He did not however fit newborn clothes as was v long.

My dd was 13 days late, I was told she was big but came out at 7lb4 Confused

Totality22 · 04/04/2015 20:17

9 days late, 7lb 8oz.

CityDweller · 04/04/2015 20:20

DD was 40+14 and 6lbs 11oz. I was all ready for a big baby (as my family tends to have 9lbers), so I hadn't bought any newborn size stuff and all the 0-3 stuff swamped her

Lifeisabeach · 04/04/2015 20:51

Mine went like this:

DS1: 41+2, 7lb 4oz
DD: 40 exactly, 7lb 3oz
DS2: 39+5, 7lb 5oz

So very similar in weight despite DS1 being overdue and the other two not.

Dd1 41+6 and 6lb 6oz....DD2 at 39wks and 7lb2oz....I ate more cake second time around!!

fairgroundsnack · 04/04/2015 20:55

10 days late, 7lb7oz
9 days late, 8lb3oz

I think chances are that a late baby will be a reasonable weight but not particularly big.

42 weeks and 5 and 1/2lbs. He was tiny, all baggy skin and bones. It was awful.

He obviously lost a lot of weight in the last few weeks due to a missed placental failure and was in 0000 clothes for quite some time.

MrsBeeBeeBee · 05/04/2015 14:36

40+13 and 7lb4oz.

I like to think that she stayed in longer to do a bit more growing, so hopefully if this baby is any bigger it might come earlier!

GinnelsandWhippets · 05/04/2015 14:39

By the time he actually came out D1 was 16 days late (48 hour induction - birth saga). He weighed 6lb 8oz.

My dad was born at 41+5 and was 5lbs 15
Good luck! Xx

HoldenCaulfield80 · 05/04/2015 19:57

9 days late and 7lb 11oz which I think is pretty average...

FatherBiggley · 06/04/2015 16:41

Nope, 7lbs 12 and 2 weeks late.

achoo · 06/04/2015 16:45

42 +2 DD was 8lbs 1oz

noddingninja · 06/04/2015 16:52

DD was 12 days late and 7lb 7ozs. I had no idea about baby clothes sizes and had taken 0-3 months babygros into hospital which swamped her - we had to go and buy early baby stuff when we got home
