Oh My Goodness! The Noise!

We collected a two new hens this morning, a Welsummer and a Cochin. We were going to keep the newbies in the run until tonight and let them all sleep together, but have now decided just to let them all loose together and keep a close eye on them.

There have been a couple of pecks, but no scraps, but the noise they are making is dreadful!!! I am hoping the bokking won't annoy the neighbours too much and they will soon settle. I have explained to the neighbours it is noise due to the introductions and will settle, so hopefully they'll be understanding.

Couple of photos of the newbies:

Midori they're lovely

I made the mistake of disturbing one of my girls whilst she was in the nest box first thing this morning. The noise she made for the next five mins was dreadful, so I can imagine! Thankfully the church bells had already rung at 8, so the neighbours can't complain that they weren't awake.

They're really lovely Midori ... mine, by comparison, are really quiet! Maybe one day they'll start laying, paying their way and making a noise

How fab - I've a partridge cochin and have ordered a lavender one for autumn - that'll bring the running total to 8, assuming mad edna makes it to autumn (old lady).
