Thanks to those of you who have guided me here. Wasn't sure where to post about hens!

We've just got some hens and love them loads. Didn't realise they'd be so relaxing to watch. We've got - a black rock hybrid, a coucou maran hybrid, a border blue maran hybrid, a buff orpington, a blue laced orpinton, a cream legbar, a welsummer and a light sussex. They all range between 16 and 22 weeks.

We've had them three weeks and have only had two eggs. Four people to one egg is a bit of a squeeze! Am I doing something wrong and how can I encourage them to lay more? Is it just a come when they're ready thing?

Also, we want to get one more hen, a barred Plymouth Rock at 16 weeks. Would it be really bad to just introduce one on its own? The hens we have all seem really easy going and no pecking has taken place amongst them.

And finally, can you feed them too many kitchen scraps? They gobble down the 'hen goo' as my little girl calls it, cooked vegetable scaps, like there's no tomorrow. I feed them layers pellets morning and night too.

Any ideas please?

Thanks
